(A/N: holy shit it's been so long since I've posted an update. I got hit by a massive wave of writer's block and D&D really took over my life for quite a while. I definitely plan on writing more this year so hopefully the pauses between updates won't be nearly as bad.
Anyways, I've definitely missed this story. Hope y'all are still enjoying it <3)

Keeping Mira close to his side, Karl led the way back into the town. It was a quiet evening in the town with everyone already settling down for the night, the only sounds that could be heard were the occasional dog barking and the sounds of thousands of insects calling out for mates. Even the various farm animals of the land were hunkering down for the night. As the two walked through the dirt laden roads, Mira slipped her hand into Heisenberg's and leaned against him. Giving her a quick glance a smile formed on his scarred lip. Unbeknownst to him, he was very quickly getting used to the idea that someone could enjoy being around him. It was such a foreign idea that it never crossed his mind, even as he let go of her hand and slipped his arm around her waist.

Stepping up the stairs to the front door of the pub Mira unhooked the keys from her bag. Heisenberg slipped his hands onto her hips and pressed a kiss to the back of her neck as she slid the key into the lock. Swinging the door open, Mira, replaced the keys into her bag and led them inside. Without removing his hands from Mira's hips, Heisenberg began trailing kisses along her shoulder. With a soft giggle of a sigh Mira spun around and with a swift motion cupped Heisenberg's cheeks. "Heisenberg darling, let me light a few candles before we get too carried away yeah?"

With a chuckle Heisenberg reluctantly let go of her hips as she went off to go find her lighter. Shrugging off his jacket, he chucked it over the back of a chair and began unbuttoning his shirt. Coming back into the room Mira quickly began going around the room and lighting enough candles to be able to see. She was too busy to notice Heisenberg plopping down into a chair, now very much shirtless. Leaning back with the utmost casualty he could muster Heisenberg watched Mira melodically walk around the room and light candles. Lighting the last candle Mira turned to face where she last left Heisenberg and nearly dropped the lighter from the sight of him. The flickering golden glow from the candles cascaded across his features beautifully, adding the right amount of shadows to define his muscular shoulders and broad frame. Dark shadows of varying sizes littered his skin, caused by the many scars covering his body. Gently setting the lighter down Mira slowly walked over to him, slightly mesmerized by the sight. Heisenberg's raspy laugh filled the room, snapping her out of her trance-like state. She was now standing a mere couple of feet in front of him, close enough for him to lean forward and tug her into his lap. "It's not very kind of you to stare buttercup, but I'll allow it since I get to see that cute little surprised look on your face."

Just short of stammering, Mira hurriedly replied "Well if you could see yourself right now maybe you'd also be surprised." Letting out a soft huff, she shifted in his lap. "You know, for someone who doesn't have a lot of experience you sure do know how to tease. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks."

Shaking his head Heisenberg sighed out, "Now come on Mira, you know there's no need to be calling me old. I'm in the prime of my life, the grey hair is just a side effect of having to deal with Miranda and the big bitch." Turning his attention to her hair, he runs his fingers through it. "Shit, looks like you might be getting a few greys already from just living here." His trademark grin of course split his lips as he spoke. All that did was get him a roll of Mira's eyes and her shaking her head.

"It's from dealing with you constantly, at this rate I'll have stark white hair by the time I'm forty." This earned her Heisenberg squeezing her sides and nipping at her neck. Settling back against him, Mira let Heisenberg guide things.

Methodically Karl left a trail of small hickies along the back of her neck and shoulders. They were small enough to be covered easily but it was still a reminder of how quickly she became his prized possession. He of course wouldn't voice that out loud just yet, he knew better. While he was enjoying his time with Mira it was going to be hard to fully put his trust in her as he'd never really been able to trust anyone. After being taken in by Miranda and experimented on, he wasn't exactly allowed to live a normal life. Of course he could never trust his adoptive siblings, they only really looked out for themselves, or in Moreau's case he wasn't all there after the experiments.

Feeling him stiffen behind her, Mira turned and looked up at him with a quizzical look. It was fairly obvious he was getting stuck in his thoughts so she leaned up and kissed his cheek. "We don't have to do anything if you're not feeling it Karl, I'm more than happy to just sit around and talk." Resting her hands on his hips she smiled up at him.

With a chuckle Karl leaned down to press a kiss to her lips, "darlin' I don't think you ever have to worry about whether or not I'm okay with hearing my name whimpered as I claim you." Taking her hands off of his hips, he wrapped her arms around his neck and held onto her ass as she hopped up and wrapped her legs around him. Karl nipped at her neck again causing her to giggle as they ascended the stairs up to her room. Plopping her down onto the bed, Heisenberg wasted no time in kicking his boots off and slipping his pants off as Mira wriggled out of her own. The next few hours were spent getting to know each other quite intimately, much to the dismay of any of the nearby houses.

Rays of sun streamed in through the windows shimmering across the two as they lay tangled together, snoring away. The warm sunlight slowly heated up the bed enough for Mira to be forced awake. Grumbling, she untangled herself from the living heater and made her way into the bathroom to get ready for the day. Putting her hair into braids and throwing on a simple sundress, Mira headed down to the kitchen to get started on the day's breakfast. Sometime after she started cooking up the bacon, Heisenberg's footsteps finally could be heard as he finally came back to the land of the awoken. Within minutes he was downstairs in his clothes and his hair brushed back. Coming up behind Mira, he plants a kiss on her cheek as he wraps his arms around her.

"Why didn't you wake me up buttercup" he gruffed out, yawning.

"Well you looked too adorable to be woken so I let you get some more sleep in, plus now you don't have to wait as long for breakfast." She leaned back against his chest for a mere moment before ducking out of his grasp to go grab him a morning ale. "Plus, don't you want to be well rested when going back to the factory?"

"The factory is pretty much self sufficient so if I really wanted to, I could spend all day pestering you darlin'," he paused as she handed him the ale, taking a sip. "I know you'd like that; getting me all to yourself."

Rolling her eyes, Mira starts plating up the food. "As a pub owner I should probably have the pub be open at least once this week. Gotta keep the good people of this town fed. Plus you have your experiments right?" Handing him a plate, she leads him out into the main dining area. "I wouldn't want to keep you from them, especially since Miranda would probably start breathing down your neck since shit isn't being done."

Shaking his head, he sits down at the bar and takes a big bite of food before speaking. "I hate when you're right, you know that?" Waiting for her eye roll, he continued, "Come by the factory tonight after you lock up then. I wouldn't mind showing you some of the experiments, especially since I'll be there in case anything happens."

"My knight in shining armor," she bats her eyelashes at him, placing a hand over her heart. "I'll pack a bag even since we already know I'll end up spending the night. Might even leave some stuff there for the future. Gotta always be prepared since you're pretty unpredictable."

"Now I wouldn't say I'm unpredictable, I'm more what you'd call 'spontaneous'. You seem to know what you've signed up for though darlin'." Taking a big swig of his ale, the two settle into a comfortable silence as they finish their breakfast.

Giving him a kiss farewell that quickly turned from a little smooch on the lips into a minute long, bodies pressed together sort of kiss, Mira said her goodbyes and began working on what she'd be making for lunch at the pub.
