"It's always the darkest before the sunrise"

(Isla's pov)

Sunday mornings are not same for everyone in this planet. Some starts it with a cup of warm tea or some just dumps the idea of getting up from the bed. Mine was different from everyone.

Dressed in a jeans and a tshirt, I stand outsidemy restaurant, screaming, trying to get some customers in.

These days we don't really get customers. Mom is tired of worrying and I am tired of seeing her worried face.

"Hey sweet people.. Please come this way.. We have the best dishes and the price is cheap too" I forced my lips to create a wide smile. Oh now even my cheeks are hurting. Not a single human being is coming and I'm just wasting my energy.

"Can we get our breakfast done here?" Suddenly my ears hit someone's words. I turned around and found a couple.
The lady, in her 30s asked me.

With a sweet smile, not a fake one, this time, I smiled
"Yes yes. Why not" I said. And luckily their expression told me that they're already going to enter in our restaurant.

I did a happy dance in mind, I welcomed them inside and offered a seat.

Mom quickly came to take their orders. And they also ordered. After that i followed mom to help her with the works.

Meanwhile i heard a loud scream from my back, Turning around, I found the lady, sitting on the floor, The chair was laying on the floor as well.

Me & mom rushed to them and held her hands to make her stand again.
"What happened maam? Are you okay?" I asked and she suddenly jerked off my hands.

"What a bad restaurant is this? This is how, you take care of your customers?"
She shouted.

"The chairs are not even good here. How can we expect the food to be good?" Her husband joined her.

"No no.. It happened by mistake" I said trying to make them understand but they were not ready to listen.

"Please listen to us" Even my mom tried but they towered on us more.

"What is left to hear more? Why are we even standing here? Let's go. We will never come here and tell everyone how bad the place is." The lady shouted once again and started leaving.

Me & mom just watched them leaving like that. My mom seemed to be scared so much.
Tapping on my hand, she muttered, "What will happen now?"

I shook my head and sighed. "What? Nothing. I will go outside again and welcome people inside"

But mom wasn't in peace anymore. "No.no.. You're not understanding. They said that-" I cut her off and assured her "I bet they can't do anything" I said, as I grabbed her shoulders gently, as an attempt to calm her down.

"Now please sit there. You're worrying too much"

She shook her head and started walking to the kitchen "No. I have to call someone to fix the chair.."

I watch her walk towards the kitchen, but then her pace slow downs, and she stumbles, something's wrong, as i rush towards her I witness her pass out, making my heart stop breathing.

"Mom! Mom! What happened, please wake up mom!" My cries reverberate in the restaurant, attracting everyone around, and the people helped me take my mom to the hospital.

The doctor came and took her in the ICU and I was left alone waiting. With my anxious heart.

My mind clouded, and my hands sweaty, my heart feels like it's about to explode, my mom, she will be ok right? She has to be. Yes right she is going to be ok.
I talk to myself as I hear a familiar voice.

"Isla!, how is aunty? Did doctor say anything?" Sharly bombarded me with questions. With her soothing voice as she grabbed my shoulders, a tear escaped my voice shutting her off.

I just look at her with my teary eyes and a trembling body with an uneven breath.
"Oh my dear, it's ok, I'm sure aunty is going to be ok" she assured me while hugging.

After awhile the doctor came out, in his white coat, and a pair of glasses followed by the nurse. Approaching us, he stopped infront of us.

"For now, your mom is out of danger, but she is... in a coma" He says in a sympathetic voice.

"Wha... what do you mean she is in a coma?, she was ok and she just... fell, how can she be... in a coma?"
I protest with a weak voice as more tears escaped my eyes, not wanting to believe what the doctor just said.

"She have a tumor in her brain, and the fall made it worse, resulting in the coma" He said taking a deep breath.

I'm speechless, I don't know what to say, all I know is, all I have is my mom, I can't live without her.

"Doctor, is there any treatment?" Sharly asks on my behalf, knowing that I'm not in my senses.

"Yes there is, and if you agree we will begin the treatment"
the doctor says, giving me some hope.

"How... much are the percentage of it working?"
I ask in a low, finally mustering up all my courage as I finally got a little bit hope.

"85%"
The doctor replies.

"OK please begin the treatment"
I say finally getting my composure back.

"Very well then, the nurse will get you a form please fill that, as well as pay the fees." The doctor says as he leaves.

I filled out the form, and also payed the fees that needed to be paid for now, but after filling the form i got another thing to stress about, the treatment fees.
5 lakh. 5 lakh is the total fees... but we don't even get 5 thousands a month, and all that we had was already used that to pay...
I have to think of something... I have to....
