"it rains, and washes away all the sorrow"

"Oh! I know something that will surely make you feel better!" With that she ran to the kitchen, while Liam's eyes followed her shadow as she ran to the kitchen for that something.

....

The dark blanket of night and darkness had fallen over the sky, the streets lay alone with no one to walk on or light up the streets, except the sound of thunders that erupted from the dark sky and heavy rain that poured over everything that came their way.

But amidst all of this was someone who was running on road with only an umbrella, not caring about the harsh weather, afterall nothing else seemed to matter when it was about her.

"Isla!" Liam screamed Isla's name his eyes scanning the area, in search for isla.

"She is not even answering!" Liam complained as he dialed Isla's number but to vain.

"Isla please, wherever you are please be safe" Liam prayed, while his eyes scanned for Isla.

"Just where are you" Liam talked to himself while running in the rain, looking for isla. Drenched. Slowly his mind getting clouded with negative thoughts, many what if's, his eyes carrying an anxious look, looking everywhere, as if they don't find Isla, they will go blind.

Liam kept on running until he reached a park and saw a familiar figure sitting on the bench, getting rained on.

In just one look, he knew it was Isla. His feet, seemingly a step ahead of him, carried him swiftly to where Isla sat.

"Isla!" Liam called out her name while running towards her.
Disturbed, Isla raised her head, facing Liam, who was standing in front of her, breathing heavily. His wet clothes and disheveled hair were evidence of his search for her.

Liam moved the umbrella towards Isla, sheltering her from the rain, forgetting himself.

"Are you-" Liam stopped mid-sentence when he saw the tears in Isla's eyes, her swollen red eyes. Her tears didn't mix with the raindrops that fell on her face.

"What happened?" Liam asked, kneeling on the ground while Isla sat on the bench.
Seeing Liam's face, the look of love in his eyes, and his state, realizing the lengths he went through just to find her, Isla burst into tears again.

"Isla, what happened?" Liam asked, scared by her tears, but the only answer he got was her tears and sniffles.

"Isla, please tell me what happened?" He asked again, feeling a pain in his chest.

"Look, my heart is hurting too. Please tell me" Liam pleaded softly, framing Isla's face between his hands.

"Your heart... shouldn't hurt," Isla said between sobs.

"Why won't my heart hurt when you are my heart, and you are crying?" He said in a soft yet pained voice, holding her gently as if holding her any tighter would break her.

"Isla, won't you tell me what happened?" He asked with concern.

"You're getting rained on; you'll get sick," Isla replied, crying into Liam's chest, completely ignoring his question.

"We are getting rained on, and if I can get sick, then you can get sick too. I'm not letting you get sick alone,"
he replied, picking the umbrella up from the ground and putting it over Isla, sheltering her from the rain. Isla finally raised her head and looked at Liam with her teary, swollen eyes.

Isla took her hand and grabbed the umbrella, letting it cover Liam too. The two sat together in the park alone while it rained, one on the bench and the other on the ground.

"Your mom called me and asked if you were OK," Liam told Isla.

"I... I went and talked to my dad... about the... the change of... course stream that I chose..." Isla said, trying to catch her breath as she finally stopped crying.

"Then?"

"Then... he yelled and scolded and said that if I change the stream, he won't talk to me anymore..." Isla said, new tears forming in her eyes.

"How... how can he say that to me... I just..." isla spoke, with her head hung low.

"It's ok, it's ok" Liam said, pulling Isla in a warm hug, the two stayed like that for awhile.

"What will I do now?" Isla asked worried, fidgeting her fingers.

"Nothing, just do what you can do, I trust you and I will help you" Liam said, getting up and offering Isla his hand.

"But what if I fail... because this stream doesn't suit me..." isla said in a low voice, accepting Liam's hand.

"Well the exams didn't come yet, and you didn't fail yet, there's still some time left, let's not waste the time thinking about the what ifs"

"Nothing stays the same, today you think you are not ready, not prepared, but no one can be completely prepared, but they sure grow over time, so a week from now, who knows you may improve by 50% or even more then that, let's not turn the happy future into a sad future by thinking bad about it"
Liam said with a warm smile, while isla just looked at him, the tears disappearing from her eyes.

"Does the miss want to eat chocolate cake?"
Liam said, holding the umbrella between them.

"Can we?" Isla asked.

"Ofcourse, I'll make the cake and let's think for a solution while we eat?" Liam suggested.

"OK!" Isla agreed with a nod.

....

(Liam's pov)

Even though the times have changed, even though the things have changed, then why am I still reminded of the old us?

There's not even a chance for us, maybe my heart will keep getting tortured like this until the very end, my selfish side seems to have awoken again, as some part of me wants you to look at me with the love that we had and with the memories that we made, I don't want to be forgotten.

Our memories play in my mind and the thoughts race in my mind as I watch her run to her kitchen.

"Tada!" Isla cheered jumping infront of me, while holding out a chocolate, her eyes shining and her smile lightning up not only the room but my heart as well.

"Chocolate?" I said, confused. I never told this Isla that I love chocolate.

"Yep!, chocolate is just the right cure for sadness" she said, while smiling.

"I'm sure this will make you happy for sure, oh and don't be shy there's nothing wrong with grown up boys eating or loving chocolate" she added, making me laugh, yes right, chocolate and you are enough to make my sadness go away.

Let's enjoy some chocolate now.

"Oh and let's hit the road" Isla said, while enjoying her chocolate.

"OK boss" I replied.
