Amelia had moved to Seattle, with her two-year-old son, to take over her brother's job while he worked for the President in D.C. She also did it to run away from her past in LA, and the many lives she'd upturned with her presence. Derek, despite this, was thrilled to have his sister and nephew close by, and he wanted to throw a welcoming party for them.

It was supposed to be a small party, Callie and Arizona had promised. A welcoming party. Amelia hated being the centre of attention, especially for a party, but Arizona had promised her it wouldn't be a large thing. She promised it was just something for everyone to get to know her better. But she wasn't so sure if to trust the two lovers whom she'd met just two weeks ago.

"Not everybody knows you," Callie grumbled as she led Amelia through the house, which didn't have many guests as yet. "Avery! Do you know who this is?"

Jackson turned around and eyed Amelia from head to toe, lingering at her eyes and hair. "I'm pretty sure I can guess whose sister she is." Amelia looked back at Callie with raised eyebrows, and the ortho surgeon retired her efforts of trying to acclimate the newest addition to the Shepherd brood.

Amelia caught the eye of Jackson, one of Derek's friends and colleague. Jackson was immediately smitten by Amelia's beauty, and they hit it off instantly.

"Is she flirting with Avery?" Derek asked with annoyance as he entered the kitchen with a box of disposable cups. Meredith couldn't help but laugh at Derek's expression as he watched his sister and friend exchange flirtatious glances as they got to know each other.

Stealing a moment for himself, Derek snuck away to the deck to enjoy a cold beer before the party picked up. As he sat there enjoying the peace and quiet, his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of loud music and chatter coming from inside the house. Clearly the dream house was getting more crowded by the second, and he chuckled to himself, knowing that his sister's arrival had caused quite the commotion among his friends and colleagues. Everyone was eager to know the young and impressionable neurosurgeon that Derek had been keeping away from them this entire time. And he would be lying if he said he wasn't excited to introduce her to the gang himself.

Derek made his way inside, weaving through the crowded living room, and finally found Amelia in the kitchen surrounded by a group of people. He smiled at the familiar faces of his co-workers, Maggie, Alex, and Arizona. Maggie was also new, and he could see that she and Amelia appeared to be connecting over their similar situations of being the 'new kids' of the Grey Sloan team.

As the guests continued arriving, it became apparent that Callie and Arizona had taken their roles a bit too seriously. The party turned into a huge chaotic event, with people from all over the hospital arriving to meet the younger neurosurgeon, switching the intimate party into a massive social gathering. The drinks were flowing, the music was blasting, and the house was packed with people. Derek was trying to keep up with all the introductions, and Arizona was busy making sure everyone had enough to eat and drink, but they quickly lost sight of Amelia amidst their attempts at being good hosts.

As the night wore on, the party was in full swing. Amelia was mingling with her friends, enjoying the food and dancing to the music. That's when Jackson approached her again, asking her to dance with him. Amelia, caught off guard, hesitated for a moment before accepting his offer.

They danced together, enjoying each other's company and making small talk and Amelia couldn't help but notice how good of a dancer Jackson was and how easy it was to talk to him.

As they swayed to the music, Jackson placed his hand on Amelia's waist and whispered in her ear, "Do you want to get out of here?"

Amelia was taken aback. She didn't know what to say. She found Jackson incredibly attractive and was tempted to take his offer, but she didn't want to ruin anything with her new start in Seattle. Amelia didn't know that Jackson and April, another colleague of theirs, were having relationship issues. She thought his invitation was harmless and simply laughed it off, but Jackson was persistent, and she began to lean into the idea of having a steamy hookup with such an attractive plastic surgeon.
