Amelia walked into the bustling halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, her white lab coat billowing behind her as she made her way to the emergency department. She had only been working at the renowned hospital for almost two months, but she was already settling into her role as the head of neurology.

As she passed through the crowded hallways, she couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. After leaving her career in Los Angeles, she never thought she would find herself at a place like Grey Sloan. But here she was, with new challenges and opportunities presenting themselves every day. And Nicole Herman's tumour was one of them, a surgery that everyone hoped would put the hospital back on the map after Derek's departure.

However, there was one challenge that Amelia was not prepared for - the attention of her boss, Owen Hunt. Owen had been slightly attracted to Amelia since she arrived, but their job status and their friendships with other colleagues, particularly with Meredith and Derek, had been enough deterrent for him not to pursue her. That, and his unresolved feelings for Cristina.

Though he and Cristina had been over for a while now, their on and off hookups and dating, up until she'd left for Zurich, had messed with his mind a lot, and he wasn't sure if he could handle another relationship so soon after that, especially not one with Derek's unstable, hurricane of a little sister. And that's exactly what she was, a hot, feisty, gorgeous tornado waiting to tear him out the ground and turn him upside down. She'd already managed to do it once, at her welcoming party, and Owen had no intention of letting her confuse him again, or so he thought.

He wasn't the only one who found her personality and aura alluring. Many of the other doctors and staff members had taken a physical liking to the newest Shepherd, something that didn't go over his head. Sometimes he even caught glimpses and whispers of her reciprocating their flirtatious advances, and he hated that it actually bothered him. There was an unspoken tension between them that neither of them acknowledged, and that tension was what was currently eating away at him now as he watched her deal with a patient in the ER, who was obviously flirting with her.

"I think I've got a headache, but I'm hoping you can make it go away," the patient shamelessly flirted, and Amelia rolled her eyes and smiled.

"Just follow my finger, Dean," she instructed, running her index finger across his vision.

"I hear you're the new doc here," he continued, "I think I saw the other Dr. Shepherd last time; I didn't know he had a sister."

"Hmm, you know you might be my new favourite patient," she teased, shining the penlight in his eyes, "Everyone usually calls me the other Dr. Shepherd."

"I am glad to hear," he affirmed, grinning softly at her, "Has anyone shown you around Seattle? There's some nice things around at night."

"I've mostly been busy with work," she answered him, humoring him for the moment, "Haven't really gotten out since I've moved here, actually." She looked at his chart, updating herself on his medical history, thinking that the flirting was over.

But the patient was adamant. "Come on, you can't deny that you're a catch," he continued to tease. "I'm sure all the doctors here are fighting to take you out."

Amelia couldn't help but let out a small laugh at his persistence. "Actually, it's kind of hard making friends as an adult."

"Well, you could be my friend," he winked, "Although, now that I've said it aloud, it sounds creepy..."

Amelia chuckled at his boldness. She was used to patients flirting with her, but this one seemed particularly confident and charismatic. "Well, I'm here to make sure you get better, not be your personal bedside entertainer," she said, trying to keep the tone light.
