Amelia had only been in Seattle for a month now, still adjusting to the new city and her position as the head of neurosurgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

It had been about a month since Amelia and Owen had shared their kiss. They had agreed to keep it professional and not pursue anything, knowing that it could complicate things at work. But now, with Owen working beside her every day, Amelia couldn't help but feel a pull towards him. It was hard ignoring the way he commanded the ER and organized the surgeons. He was the rock that all the doctors were standing on, and they relied heavily on his commands and guidance to work properly. They all respected and adored Owen, and she could see why. He was a leader with experience, with very little that could distract him and make him make a mistake.

Or maybe she just had a thing for older, authoritative, edgy men.

He was very hard to ignore, and she needed something to occupy her before she acted on her thoughts. So, she chose to dive deep into her work, and curing Arizona's mentor seemed like the best way to distract herself.

One night, while she was deep in her research, Meredith had to return to the hospital. Since Derek's departure, the two of them had been looking after the kids, with a little bit of help from Maggie. But Maggie was on call tonight as well, which left only Amelia.

"Amelia," Meredith called for the fifth time, "Are you hearing me?"

"Hmm?" the Shepherd hummed, her eyes still glued to the computer in front of her.

"Are you sure you can watch the kids?" the general surgeon asked again. When she was met with a mumbled response, she sighed and rolled her eyes. "I'm calling someone to watch the kids," she muttered, pulling out her phone. Amelia's hadn't even heard what she'd said. As she scrolled through her most recent contacts, her green eyes fell on Owen's chat.

Meredith had noticed the tension between her and Owen over the past month, or rather, the tension Amelia felt around him, but she needed a babysitter, and he was right there in her backyard. So, to see how Amelia felt, she suggested to her sister-in-law that they invite Owen over to babysit Ryan, Bailey and Zola, while she continued her research. Amelia, who was completely consumed with her work, mindlessly agreed.

It wasn't until there was a knock on the door that Amelia realized someone was coming over. When she opened the door and saw Owen standing there, she couldn't help but feel a rush of emotions.

"Owen? What are you doing here?" Amelia asked in confusion as she opened the door. Why hadn't Meredith told her anything?

Owen gave her an awkward, yet warm smile. "She said you'd say that," he said, scratching the back of his head. He looked like he'd woken up not long ago, and Amelia held back a chuckle as she saw his loosely styled hair. "Well your sister-in-law invited me over. Apparently, I'm on babysitting duty," he announced.

Amelia couldn't help but laugh at the situation. "Really? I mean I'm fine here, I don't want to bother you."

"She said you're doing research?" he asked, and slowly, she nodded. "You should focus on that, I'll watch the kids."

"I mean, really, it's okay," she assured him, "I've got the kids handled."

"She said to ignore you if you try to turn me away," he added, and she rolled her eyes and sighed.

Finally, she relented. "Yeah, she's probably right. Come on in." She stepped to the side and he walked in, closing the door behind him.

"Mr. Owen!" Ryan called as he tumbled towards the trauma surgeon, leaving Bailey and Zola to greet him.

Owen's eyes brightened as he saw the little boy and he scooped him up into his arms, ruffling his hair. "Hey Ryan. Have you had anything to eat as yet?" Zola got up now and ran towards Owen, hugging his leg too. He picked her up as well, and Amelia couldn't help but notice how easily he held them, like they were a part of him. It didn't help her attraction dissipate.
