♫ Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright♫
No one seemed to really care who won the game. It was about five seconds of cheering, and then everyone was too busy with their freezing limbs to give a shit. Once we had changed we were allowed to chill in the common room where our rooms were, or back in the dining hall.
"Dude we totally owned you!" Hudson yelled while throwing his shirt, which was wet with sweat, at Sidney. Sidney laughed like he couldn't have possibly cared less and let the shirt fall to ground. I noticed the subtle way Sidney's eyes glanced over Hudson's chest, and I had the feeling that they might have been a little more than friends at least one time.
"Yeah, but my legs aren't red, so I'm cool with that," Sidney drawled out as Hudson slid his snow soaked pants off to reveal his frostbitten skin. He pulled on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt before flipping Sidney off and rummaging through his bag.
"Cards Against Humanity?" Jonathon asked as he pulled on a piece of his bleached hair.
"You know it." Hudson smirked. Ian still hadn't spoken. He was a fucking weird dude, just sitting there and observing everyone.
When everyone was dressed in dry clothes we started to make our way to the common room, but when I turned to go down the stairs instead of through the doorway, Sidney caught my arm.
"It's over here." His eyebrows were furrowed in confusion as I shrugged off his hold on my nonexistent bicep and turned back towards the stairs.
"I'm going to the dining hall. I need tea, there was too much singing today for a life time." He laughed a little at my lame attempt at humor and then I started to descend the stairs, leaving him in the hallway.
"Want me to go with you?" He called down after me, but I waved him off. I found my shoes in the mud room and effectively soaked my socks in all the puddles created by other people.
I made the mad dash between the two buildings with only one almost-fall and I made sure to check that no one was watching. The only thing more embarrassing than doing something stupid is thinking that you got away only to have it catch up with you later.
I wrapped my sweater around my hand as I pulled open the door to the dining hall because Sidney had been lovely enough to tell me about that one time this kid got his hand stuck to the handle because it was so cold and he pulled it off and some skin from his hand was left there. I was pretty sure he just told me that to be a complete asshole, but I wasn't going to test that theory.
The second I walked in I was greeted with the sound of the piano. It was some famous classical piece I had heard in a commercial. I pulled off my shoes and tiptoed into the hall, not wanting to disturb the person playing. But I knew once I saw him that I was screwed. It was so captivating. It wasn't like he was playing the piano; it was as if it was a partnership. He was part of the piano. His fingers danced across the keys with ease, and his eyes kept shutting. It was impossible to look away. And I guess it didn't hurt that he was fine as hell.
I totally didn't just say that.
It was when I took a step closer that the old floor board creaked, causing me to wince and him to halt his playing completely. His eyes were wide as he turned to me and I could feel myself blushing.
"Keep playing," I urged him, but he shook his head, already pushing away from the piano.
"I can't play in front of people."
