IT WAS NOW NEARING THE two week mark of staying on the road. A few places around slowly started to look familiar to Freya, but until she saw the red mail box sitting on the stump of a fallen tree, then Freya wouldn't get her hopes up too high.
It was around midday, and the group had set their vehicles down and outside a pop-up gas station for a quick break.
"Alright, here's the plan." Rick crouched back down on the ground as he finished his survey of the inside of the gas station. "Glenn and I will go out to the back, make sure there aren't any walkers hidden and we'll make our way inside. Carol, T-dog, I want you both to make some noise on that wall while Maggie, Daryl and Freya go inside."
Carol and T-dog both nodded and they cautious crept away so not to bring themselves any unwanted attention from the lingering lots of walkers from inside the store. Glenn made sure his silencer on the pistol he had was put on correctly and wouldn't fall off like last time he used it -Glenn didn't always have the best of luck.
"Maggie and Freya, when your inside, stick together and stay low. I want Daryl to kill the walkers from behind so we don't make any noise." That was another new addition to the plan. This time, it was the result of what happened when Glenn's silencer just took a field trip to the ground. The herd of walkers that popped out from the bushes were almost the end of the group.
"We good?" Rick glanced at Glenn again. For, as last time when the silencer of his gun fell off, then it attracted the herd of walkers, Glenn had gotten some walker brains in his mouth and vomited for a hot minute.
With the single nod, the action and plan was set into motion. Rick and Glenn followed the signs to the back of the station while Daryl somehow managed to silently open the door. He hovered over both Maggie and Freya as they snuck inside, and again, with the grace of a swan, he managed to swiftly close the door without making literally any noise.
"Freya!" Maggie whispered in the lowest voice she could, while nudging the woman. Blinking back into motion, Freya looked away from Daryl and continued her way into the store.
With their eyes poking through the gaps of shelves that were minorly stocked with your random items you'd find. For some brilliant reason, your bags of chips and wood-work tools were placed on the same isle, but Freya decided to glaze over that detail, as it didn't matter as much.
From her view, there were 4 walkers inside the station, two with their backs turned, and two just moving around with no goal in mind. But what it needed to be, was all 4 walkers facing the same way, so Daryl could have a chance of killing them all without any threats. Maggie's head moved towards Freya so the brunette turned her head towards the southern woman. Maggie didn't say anything, but her eyes gestured over to the works of the tool hanging on the isle wall behind both woman.
Nodding her head, Freya shifted over to the wall, glancing over her shoulder before reaching up and grabbing a small screwdriver. Maggie followed through with the action, reaching up or a rubber hammer.Freya started making the slightest of noise by tapping the ground with the screwdriver lightly. Whatever little experiment Freya and Maggie were doing would really explore if the walkers had any lingering human effects like intelligence or suspicion.
Maggie wiggled her head around, trying to look through the gaps of the shelves, suddenly, when the short haired raised her hand to Freya, showing her palm, Freya instantly stopped tapping the screwdriver on the floor.Wriggling her own head around until she found a gap through the shelves. All the walkers now had their heads turned towards the isle that Maggie and Freya were in. Only now, there were three walkers, and Daryl was silently dragging one down to the ground as he eyed the others.
