Chapter 10: Missing U

[A/n: Pan here! Sorry for the not so fast update! I really had a hard time writing this, not knowing where I want to go after writing last chapter. Hope you guys enjoy this!]

–A few years ago–

It was another study session for Y/n and Nayeon. By this point, Nayeon's grades had already increased. By this point, Y/n assistance isn't needed anymore. He was only there for conversation, to be a helping hand, to be someone who Nayeon would rant to. But most importantly, to be a friend.

At this point, Y/n had already received his last paycheck from the Im residence. He knew his time with Nayeon was over. He was already borrowing time, it's not like he's dying but he knew this is the last time he'd see Nayeon.

Nayeon was oblivious to this fact. To be fair, it wasn't as if anyone was giving her signs. Her father wouldn't break the news to her, he saw it fitting that Y/n be the one to tell the news to her. And for Y/n, he felt sad, he didn't admit it to himself but he felt a sting in his heart. He enjoyed his time with Nayeon, she was very bubbly and Y/n liked that. She got the energetic part of Momo but also got the responsible side of Jihyo.

"Y/nnnn, what can we do for today? I've already read it in advance. I promise I can score high on it. You don't need to test me!" Nayeon exclaimed, bored, not knowing what to do.

"We can go out, to the mall, to the park, anywhere you want as long as it's nearby." Y/n suggested, making Nayeon flinch and look at him.

Nayeon's eyes widened, "You? You want to go out? Are you really Y/n? Everytime I suggest we go out of the house you always refuse."

"Well, think of it as one of those special days, Nayeon. Besides, it's a reward for a job well done these past few weeks." Y/n smirked as Nayeon hugged him, of course making Y/n blush.

"Alright, let's go!" Nayeon said as the two of them walked to the park.

It was the slowest walk of Y/n's life. He just doesn't know how to break the news to Nayeon. He doesn't know how to, but he sure knows to himself that he'll make the most of it.

They got ice cream from the park like last time, after that they ate dinner at the nearby fast food chain. By that time, the sun was already setting, but it didn't stop the two. Y/n took Nayeon to the night market, helping her buy out some new clothes for her to wear. At their first meeting, Nayeon wasn't even considering fashion choices, but now, she has a taste, whatever Y/n found cute is an automatic addition to her cart. The whole treat was paid by Y/n, using his pay from the past few sessions. He doesn't want to say goodbye, so he made it feel that with all the things they've done today, they're with each other for a lifetime.

"I wish we'd have more times like this, Y/n!" Nayeon said, hugging the boy who was holding all the things they bought.

Y/n laughed nervously, "I wish we could." Nayeon broke the hug, noticing that Y/n's tone is a bit off, as if he's feeling sad.

"Is there something wrong, Y/n?" Nayeon asked, Y/n knew an explanation was overdue some key moments ago but all he could do was put a wall in between him and Nayeon.

"I just thought that I would never do this with Jihyo and Momo. You really got a hold on me, literally and figuratively." Y/n said as Nayeon broke the hug and chuckled.

Nayeon blushed, "Aww, so this is like our thing? Going out and going to the night market is our thing? Not with your other friends? All ours!"

The sun had already slept, they didn't track the time, dancing the night away to heart's content, until Nayeon and Y/n realized how late it was and rushed back to Nayeon's house. They ran as fast as they could, by the time they reached the house, Nayeon's father was already waiting for them.
