The duo walked to the outdoor bar Y/n pointed out. It was not a short walk. From the bar, you couldn't even see Jihyo and the others.
"One good Old Fashioned, on the rocks please. How about you Nayeon?" Y/n said as he looked at the bartender then to Nayeon.
"I guess I'll take a Sweet Mimosa." Nayeon said as the bartender obliged.
Y/n's drink was well, whiskey with ice. It was served immediately as Nayeon's was mixed first and then served. Both took a sip and sighed in relief.
"Mine tastes good!" Nayeon remarked.
"Well, there's really nothing more to say about a glass of whiskey." Y/n said as he rested his cup on the counter.
"I thought you weren't one for swimming, Y/n. But I caught you in the water with the other girls." Nayeon replied, opening up the conversation.
"Well, I thought it was funny when Momo got hit by Sana with a beach ball. But I guess the other reason is because of my mom." Y/n replied. Nayeon knew from Jihyo that Y/n's mom had a special place for beaches in her heart.
"Your mom? Why so?" Nayeon asked, wanting to get the answer out from Y/n.
"My mom has always been my number 1 fan after all. She loved going to beaches. She'd be the happiest person in the world if my dad could save enough just for us to get a vacay. I owe everything to her, really. Dad was always busy with work and she's the only person I see once I get home." Y/n explained as he took another sip at his glass.
"Your mother really was something then." Nayeon said, not imagining that Y/n would have a sentimental side.
"I don't usually show this side of mine, y'know? I mean, why would I show this in the university? My personal life is not the concern of my students. I'm a professional at my subject, that's why they should look at me and see a professional." Y/n replied back.
"So, uh... If I may ask where she is now?" Nayeon questioned.
"Well, she's getting old. She's been very sick. My father is taking care of her but even so, the two of them are getting older, getting weaker day by day." Y/n said as he sighed.
"Oh, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to erm-"
"It's fine. Momo and Jihyo try to avoid talking about my mom with me but I really appreciate it that someone asked me. Really, Nayeon, it's been a while since I was able to actually think of my parents. I always go about with work, work, and work because it's been a while since I've last visited them." Y/n said as he smiled at Nayeon. His smile wasn't the kind that reached over the moon, but not fake as well, Nayeon could feel that every word was meant with sincerity.
"Oh, Y/n... I've always liked someone who cares much about their family." Nayeon said as Y/n blushed.
"I- I think we should head back to the others now." Y/n said as he gulped down the last drops of his Old Fashioned.
"Oh, okay..." Nayeon said as she sighed, she wondered where her flirting would go but was disappointed when Y/n just gave up.
The two finished their drinks and made it back to the others. The sun was setting by that point but Y/n and Nayeon still see the four enjoying the sea.
"I'll go swim with them, Y/n. Wanna come?" Nayeon said, offering her hand.
"I actually feel a bit of the whisky. I think it was stronger than what I expected so I'll sit this one out." Y/n digressed.
The two separated and Y/n sat down on their spot with the umbrella while Nayeon regrouped with the other girls.
"Ohh, now the lovergirl is here to join us." Dahyun said as Nayeon blushed, being splashed by Sana with water to keep her responsive.
