Y/n readied himself, trying to forget the dream he had. He ate breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, still amazed on how western food is so different from Korean food. He looked at his phone and messaged Nayeon.

Y/n: Just woke up, good morning! Today's the day of the convention. I'm gonna meet up with the two researchers I worked with before. They're nice people. Hope your day is good as well.

He closed his phone and continued on. The hotel was near the convention center, it was a 5-minute walk, perfect for him to immerse himself in the busy morning life of LA. He saw a nearby cafe, he looked at his watch and thought that he still had time left.

He went inside and ordered a cup of coffee to go. Y/n never liked bitter coffee, he liked the caffeine, but not the taste. He always adds lots of sugar on it, which in totality makes him feel more energetic due to the sugar rush.

Continuing his walk, he saw lots and lots of things. He saw people jogging, people on bikes, cars all around, and lots of food shops that he wouldn't see in Seoul. The city truly was bustling, he might even say that it's too much for him.

Finally he reached the nearby convention center, Y/n saw lots of mathematicians, physicists, chemists, some of them he only dreams of seeing, thinking the closest he'll ever get to see them was in YouTube videos. All in all, this is what Dahyun would consider "the biggest nerd meetup ever".

Y/n walked around, hearing English, Spanish, German, Dutch, French... Languages he wasn't familiar with besides English. He thought that they were groups that came from the same place. Unlucky for Y/n, he was invited as an individual and none in his university was invited besides him.

"There's too many people, too many languages being spoken as well." Y/n thought to himself as he continued to walk around, hoping to see someone he already knew about. Y/n published some papers with international researchers, they were mostly Asians though, Filipinos, Japanese, Malays. However, it was to no avail.

"You got some nerve still going here after not responding to my message." A voice said as he was smacked in the head.

"Chaeyoung, please calm down. Other people are staring at us." Another voice said as Y/n looked at who hit him. He saw Son Chaeyoung and Myoui Mina, two acquaintances from a rival university in Korea.

Chaeyoung and Mina are math professors like Y/n, the three made headlines when they produced a paper together as the two universities they worked for are long time rivals. Their universities have been pitted against each other even before they were born. They rival each other in sports, not like their universities focus on it really. Their universities focus on research which is more of the reason why the two are rivals. Always competing on who's university will shine brighter in academics, research, and discoveries.

"Mina! Chaeyoung! Thank goodness! I thought I was gonna be alone all day." Y/n said as he shook the hand of Mina, with Chaeyoung rejecting his offer.

"If you saw our message, then we would've been here together." Chaeyoung complained as Y/n opened his phone.

CY: Yo! Y/n!!! Heard you're also going to the convention here in LA. Are you here already? I'm with Mina. Want to get breakfast at the eatery near the convention center tomorrow so we can meet up early?

Y/n looked at the text message in his phone and laughed, "I'm sorry for ignoring you but I was just so tired last night that I didn't get the time to respond. I'll make it up to you guys! Dinner on me."

With Y/n's suggestion, Chaeyoung's eyes lit up with ecstasy, "Alright! Looks like we get to splurge on dinner, Mina." Chaeyoung said, looking at the girl behind her who gave a thumbs up.
