Klaus Mikealson knew what he was getting himself into when he started doing all of this. It had been a thousand years after all. But sometimes even the most powerful creature in the world can begin to question what they're truly doing with themselves after all this time. Some would say he was having a mid-life crisis. But Klaus was not going to let that bother him. It almost made him laugh. He was going soft inside. Even after all the murders he had committed, he still yearned for something more in life.

Or someone.

Damon and Stefan were stressed. Somehow, Klaus knew their every move, and they couldn't figure out how. Their inner circle was as small as it could be, with everyone's aim being the same.

Protect Elena Gilbert.

The two brothers sat in their mansion, just the two of them, as they plotted their next move. They were convinced they were being so careful that they hadn't made a single mistake. They weren't wrong. The only flaw they had was that they severely underestimated Klaus Mikealson and how he would go to extreme lengths to get what he wants.

They both sat, drinking their bourbon, thinking of all the possibilities, but nothing.

"What do you think she'd say to us if she was awake right now?" Stefan asked his brother. He did this a lot when he was in a predicament. He'd often wander what his younger sister would do or say. Damon looked at his brother, meeting his eyes, and almost laughed.

"You mean what do you think she'd say if she saw us saving the life of the girl that looks like the girl that killed us? I'd like to think she'd feel nothing but pride." Damon stated, his sarcasm evident. Before she was bound to a witches curse, Damon would say he was closest to his sister; he was absolutely heartbroken when he realised he couldn't wake her. And so he made a silent vow that day to make the person who did this to his precious baby sister pay terribly, but first he had to find the person guilty. It had been well over 150 years since the incident, and it was like the person who caused this had disappeared off the ends of the earth, and it aggravated him.

Stefan noticed the sudden change in Damon's demeanour, and so he tried to lighten the mood.

"I don't think she'd like this place," he said, observing his surroundings, "its far too manly. She was the epitome of femininity." (AN: I almost had a stroke trying to spell that word.)

Damon smiled slightly, nodding in agreement. She really was.

Klaus, inside the body of Alaric Saltzman, was plotting. That's the thing with Klaus. He never stopped. He never stopped having ideas when it came to getting what he wanted. I mean, look at him. He's in another person's body. Can you get any more creative than that? Inside Alaric's house was the so-called Almighty Katherine Pierce, struggling to leave the house, as Klaus had compelled her to stay inside. Using her supernatural hearing, she heard the footsteps and immediately sped away from the door, sitting on the couch.

Alari-Klaus emerged into the house with a knowing smirk on his face, a smirk that made Katherine Pierce shudder at the sight. She wanted to ask him what made him so happy, but to be honest, she was scared. She was scared that it was going to be an answer she didn't want to hear. But one thing she did know was this: he would stop at nothing to get his hands on the moonstone. He had waited for over a thousand years. He was more than ready.
