AN: Hello all u lovely people. I'm so sorry for not posting for a few days. I've had a very hectic time with work and exams etc. But a little disclaimer for the story I have no idea where klaus was around 1863-64, and I tried to do research but found nothing. So if anyone knows, please lmk so I can add it in, but for now, I won't be mentioning the place where they met cos I want it to be as accurate as possible. But anyways enjoyyyy <3
Emmaline's POV:
My mind was filled with thoughts. Here i was, sitting in a dining room with none other than Klaus Mikealson himself, the man who left an impact on my to last forever. And here he was, telling me absurd stories. Telling me how it had been over a century since I last saw him. As crazy as it sounded, I believed him. After all, I did find myself in a coffin and drank the life out of people, so after that, I'll believe anything.
Nik's words weighed on my shoulders. He's still speaking, but I can't hear a word anymore. My heart was racing. The things he was telling me, it all sounded so fake. So-very not real. But Nik wouldn't lie to me like that, not in that tone of voice anyways.
He had always treated my so nicely, and when I heard the rumours of his so-called 'true natire' I simply refused to believe it.
My mind wandered to when we first met, Nik and I. It was so unexpected. My parents had allowed me to travel through America, and along the way, I had taken an unexpected turn...
1863...
It had been a long day. My tutor had just left, still wondering why a woman was so adamant about getting an education, as I was destined to marry a rich and wealthy man. Typical.
My mind had begun to pound, so I allowed myself to take a stroll around the very alive streets. The second I open the door, I'm welcomed with a gush of air to my face, making me sigh in relief. Exactly what I needed.
It must have been some sort of event that had taken place as the streets were a lot more crowded than normal. It was nice, but it could get ocerwhelming. I made my way to Town Square, where I was met with a band playing a lively song, matching the vibe of the crowd. To the side, there was a line of people painting on the walls. It was gorgeous. It was obvious that each painter had a story to tell, and only a handful would be able to decode it.
The painting I found myself drawn to was by the man in the middle. I watched him as he painted his heart away, with a look of passion etched on his face. I could not paint or even draw for that matter, but I was always able to find myself in awe of any type of artwork. It made me happy.
"It's gorgeous, isn't it?" A man spoke from behind me, leaving me startled. "My sincerest apologies, I did not mean to scare you. You just seemed rather entranced by the painting, I had to approach you to see what you were thinking." The man spoke. His voice was a clear indication that he was not from here, definitely British. I turned to face him, and I was met with a dirty blonde-haired man. His smile, it was exasperating. I found myself lost for words.
"I'm sorry, miss? Are you okay?" He spoke while I pulled myself together. I cleared my throat before speaking,
"Apologies, sir," I say, turning back round, "The painting is absolutely lovely. You can just see the clear story behind it. The man has been made to show his conflicting thoughts, possibly to do with the future as we can see him standing, looking out in the distance. He's almost considering turning back. That's why he's been made in a way that you can not clearly depict where his body begins and ends. It's so show his indecisiveness." My mind began speaking for me. It's like I had no control. I turned back to face the stranger, but he was already looking at me.
"You have a way with words, miss...?" I hesitated answering him, but not before realising that there could not be any harm in doing so.
"Emmaline, and you?"
"Niklaus, but I prefer to be called Klaus." He sounded almost disappointed to tell me his name, like it brought him some sort of misery.
"If everyone calls you Klaus, wouldn't you rather I call you something different?" I ask him, wondering what was going through his mind right now.
"And what do you have in mind, Miss Emmaline?" He smirked, watching me as I made my decision.
"Nik. I think Nik suits you perfectly," I tell him. Nik just stares at me in shock, unsure of what to say next. I just look at him and smile.
"I think it's perfect, love."
Love. I like that, too.
