After countless hours of asking and searching (and bodies found dead due to an 'animal attack') Stefan and Damon had come to to conclusion that there was only one person that could possibly play a part in their sister's disappearance. Someone that they really didn't want to converse with. But they had no choice. They were out of ideas.

The brothers and the rest of the gang made their way back to the Salvatore mansion to gear up. When it comes to Klaus Mikealson, you can never be too careful. They went over the plan they had in place in case things became too out of hand. Once confirming everything with each other, they all made their own way to where he lived.

They hated to admit it, but Klaus was their final and only hope. They were really counting on him.

Meanwhile, Nik and Emmaline were sat by the balcony of his house, talking about anything and everything. Emmaline had begun to come to terms with everything, but not quite fully accepting it. There was just one thing that was bothering her.

"Nik, this is going to sound awful, but I need some sort of rational explanation. And I'm hoping you can provide me with one." She explained as he slowly moved towards her,

"Well, whatever it is, love, I'm sure I can provide some sort of answer. Ask away," he replied.

She hesitated for a moment before replying, "Well, it's just that, this whole...blood situation. The one where I constantly crave it. I don't understand it at all. Why do I feel this way? And why am I not completely freaked out over it? Now, don't get me wrong, the thought has been stuck in my head for a while, but it doesn't bother me as much as it should."

Nik smiled ever so slightly as he readied himself to tell her everything. "Once I tell you this, there's no going back, love. It'll answer all of your questions, but it comes at a price," he explained. This just made her more curious; she signalled him to continue,

"Well -"

A knock was heard from downstairs. Nik sighed before telling Enmaline to stay put while he went to check who it was.

Nik went to answer the door with a suspicion of who it was. To no ones surprise, he was correct.

Standing at his door was none other than Stefan Salvatore with Caroline by his side, both with a determined look ok their faces.

"Well, isn't this a lovely surprise. What can I do for the two of you?" Nik questioned, even though he knew the answer. He wanted to drag this along for as long as he could.

At that moment, Stefan found himself at a loss of words. All of his worries began to crash down on him. Caroline noticed this, so she spoke for him,

"Listen, I know this is really weird, but you haven't happened to have seen a girl? Dark hair, green eyes, the exact mix of Stefan and Damon?" Caroline questioned. At this point, she was as blunt as possible. She knew she had to be for Stefan's sake.

"Well, Caroline, you're going to have to be more specific, I mean, there's lots of people that look like Emmaline Salvatore," Nik smirked. At hearing this, Stefan stepped forward, finally getting an answer.

"Where is she?" He demanded. Stefan was done playing games. He just wanted his sister back; he wanted to make sure she was safe.

"Now, now, there, let's not get all hasty. You'll see her soon enough." He reassured, "Oh, and tell your friends to come out too. There's no need to hide in case I decide to pull out Stefan's heart," Nik called out and smiled. When hearing this, Damon, Bonnie, Elena, and Alaric emerged from the shadows, Damon quicker than the rest, eager to find his sister.

"Great, now let us through," Damon stated, anger building up inside of him. Klaus was really starting to get on his nerves. But he was just beginning to have fun.

"Oh, I will, eventually," Klaus stepped in the way of the 2 brothers, "but first, what do I get in return?"

"Well, I'll tell you this: you let us in, and we won't destroy you and this house piece by piece," Damon threatened. The threat was as serious as ever, yet Damon always managed to make it sound so sarcastic.

Klaus just laughed at him, noticing Alaric slowly approaching him, his weapon in hand. He really wasn't going to give in so easily, "See, that just doesn't cut it for me, Damon, so here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to close this door, and you're all going to walk away and come back when you have a real offer."

And with that, he closed the door and immediately sped to where he left Emmaline. When he got there, she was gone. There was no sight of her anywhere. Nik began to get frustrated, throwing a desk in the air and watching it as it broke into tiny pieces. He lost her. Again.

Enmaline's POV:

I heard it all. The whole conversation. It took me a while to realise, but when I figured out whose voices were at the door, it was too late. They were gone. I had jumped off the balcony (somehow remaining silent and alive) in an attempt to try to catch up to them, but they had all split off, going through different directions. My mind couldn't keep up with all the noises I was hearing. It hurt my head.

But I was determined this time. Maybe Nik wasn't who I remembered from all those years ago. People can change, and sometimes not for the better.

But I could hear their voices. Both of them. They were still alive.

My mind was made up.

I was going to find my brothers, no matter what.
