In the place they call The Mystic Grill, there laid a girl in a booth who looked drunk but was actually starving for blood after being kept in a magical coma for well over a century.

You wouldn't think that though, would you?

Emmaline laid on the seat, her hand resting on her forehead as she continued to breathe heavily. She didn't know what to do. She was stuck in a room that she couldn't leave while the sun was up, as she just happened to realise that she would burn. She tried to leave the shop before to follow a tasty-looking woman, but began to scream in pain and ran back; she was so confused. After that, she made sure she sat in a booth that was far away from a window. What was wrong with her? Why couldn't she leave the building? And more importantly, why did she still feel so hungry?

" Hey there, you don't look well. Can I get you anything? A coffee perhaps?" She's heard a voice say. She slowly opened her eyes to see a blonde boy with pearly blue eyes. Her throat itched as she stared at his neck. She had to control herself. If she didn't, she'd cause a scene and would be taken by the authorities, and she couldn't have that. She had too many questions that were left unanswered. She wanted to find her brothers or find out what happened to them. She wanted to know why she was trapped in a coffin and why everything around her looked so weird.

She was snapped out of her train of thoughts when the blue-eyed boy's hand waved around her face. She slowly got up to see the his name tag: Matt. A light bulb entered her mind as she realised she could take her mind off of things.

"Tell me, Matt. What's the strongest type of alcohol you sell?" She questioned while looking deep into his eyes. She noticed that when she did this, people would answer her immediately and truthfully. Were people afraid of her? Did humanity forget what eye contact was? She remembered seeing a brown-ish type of liquor in her father's study, and everywhere else around the house. She always wanted to try it but never did.

Matt just looked at her, confused, "Err, that would be bourbon, but I'll need to see some ID before I serve you."

"What is that?"

"What is .... what?"

"This ID thing you speak of. What is it?" Emmaline asked. She really had no idea. All these neologisms (AN: hehe, fancy word) were making her question everything.

Matt looked at her funny, explaining it was proof of identification. "Well, I don't have that, but I can tell you who I am and who I'm looking for." She stated. Emmaline decided there really was no need in beating around the bush. She was becoming desperate at this point. Maybe he could be of assistance. Matt reluctantly agreed, slightly curious to hear what she would say.

"I'm looking for a Damon and Stefan Salvatore. Do you know of them?" She questioned. A look of approval appeared on his face. He told her that they lived in their own house on the edge of mystic falls. Emmaline asked for directions, and Matt told her, noticing her eagerness.

It had been a while since the two had started talking about anything and everything, it had been so long since Emmaline chastised with someone. She noticed that the sun was beginning to set. She wanted to try to leave the building again. And his neck had begun looking a bit too delicious, so she knew she had to depart.

"Well, thank you so much, dear Matt, for your information. I really appreciate it." Emmaline began to stand up to leave, but Matt called out for her,

"Hey, wait! You never told me your name." That made her stop in her tracks. Should she tell him? Announce her arrival? Could that help her situation? So many decisions. Such little time.

"It's Emmaline, blondie. If you see Stefan and Damon tell them I'm looking for them," and with that, she left. She slowly began to open the door to take a step outside; nothing. It worked. She was free to leave.

And so she left.

Emmaline tried to follow Matt's directions as best as she could, but she seemed to have taken a wrong turn somewhere, for she had found herself in the middle of nowhere. She was lost. In a place where no one knew her, where she knew no one, nor the surroundings.

And she was getting hungry again. So hungry.

She had to find someone, anyone. For directions, or ... other things. She tried listening for a sound, but heard nothing but birds and crickets. She was beginning to get restless and agitated. So she tried to calm herself and sat on the ground. Emmaline closed her eyes and tried to remember everything that had happened, her brothers, her parents. She felt as if she was forgetting something, someone.

And then she realised.

Katherine.

Was she still around? Did she finally get exposed for the disgrace that she was?

Emmaline despised Katherine. Katherine drew her brothers apart only to try to turn them into what she was. She didn't understand why Katherine had to choose her brothers. Her precious brothers, whom Emmaline loved dearly. It pained her so much to watch them fight over a woman who used them.

Suddenly, all Emmaline could feel was rage. She was angry. Angry at Katherine for ruining her and her brother's lives. Angry at her parents for ever inviting the girl in. And most of all, she was angry at herself. She was angry that she had so many unanswered questions. Angry that she didn't know where or when she was. She was just there, lost. (AN: angry doesn't look like a word anymore.) She gathered her knees to her chest and lowered her head. She wanted to cry. She felt so alone.
