Enmaline's POV:

"Compulsion?" I questioned.

"Yes, love. Compulsion. The beautiful act of erasing humans' memories or altering it to your preference. I can give you a whole lesson on it, seeing as though I'm the expert on it." Nik said, winking at me. Taking me by surprise, my cheeks firmed into a light shade of pink, making me quickly turn away. I hated when he did things like that, making me feel like my insides are on fire. Like the second I'm going to look in his eyes, it'll just feel like it's me and him, and no one else. Nik makes me feel a way I've never experienced with anyone before, and that scared me. He had too much control over me, and I couldn't let him find out.

I heard him chuckle from behind me as I heard him slowly walk closer to me, completely forgetting about the silent, traumatised man who was too terrified to move. I could feel him breathing against me again, his hand stroking my arm with the lightest touch: he really knew how to make me lose my mind. I could hear his heavy breathing, but in a split second, my mind was focused on the heart beats of the once-chatty man. I averted my gaze from the ground, only to make eye contact with his eyes that clearly held a million emotions.

I needed to control my thirst. That was my priority, and I needed to learn the art of compulsion. So I walked towards the man, straining every inch of my body from pouncing at him. My mind had completely forgotten about the man I had just left behind as I listened to the human's heartbeat. I couldn't give in. I couldn't let the constant urge to rip out someone's throat win. As weird as it sounded, that was the only way to describe it.

"What do I need to do?" I ask Nik.

Instantly understanding what I meant, he replied, "Look straight into his eyes, love. Keep in your mind what you want to sat, and then say it." His words linger in my mind; I'm silent for a moment before I spoke, looking into the human's eyes:

"You will not remember this. You got lost, separated from the rest of your group, and couldn't find them for a very long time. You tripped over your foot and fell onto a tree bark, which is why there's so much blood. Understood?" I asked him. He looked right back at me, staring into my eyes, and responded, "I understand." His voice remained monotone, which made me uncomfortable, that was until I felt Nik's hand reach for my shoulder.

"You did good, angel," there it was, that nickname, again, "now about this mess that we have," he said, indicating towards the blood that remained oozing out of his neck, "let me show you a little party trick. Could I borrow your wrist?" He asked, holding out his hand. This made me slightly alarmed, yet I gave in and planted my wrist on his hand, curiosity winning me over. I watched as his face began to morph into something rather demonic-looking. It was so awful, yet I couldn't bring myself to look away. I watched as he raised my wrist to his mouth, which made my heart race. Anxiousness filled me as he bit into my wrist, but his now-golden eyes remained in line with mine, watching my face to work out what I was feeling. With blood running down my hand and dropping onto the floor, Nik moved my wrist to the mouth of the human, forcing him to drink. It made me feel weird, watching this. He drank my blood until Nik pulled my hand away, and as he did so, I couldn't help but notice the wound I had made. It was starting to disappear.

I remained quiet. I didn't know how to react. "Everything okay, love?" Nik questioned, trying to read my face. But even I didn't know what I was feeling. Is it weird that I found him biting into my wrist attractive? I found myself starting to replay it over and over in my mind, not noticing his eyes watching me, trying to figure out what I'm thinking. But my heart is racing; I'm positive he can hear it because he begins to approach me, his hands reaching out to my face as he looks my in my eyes.

"What's wrong, angel?" Nik says, looking down at me, clearly concerned as he noticed the terror resting on my face.

I'm suddenly overwhelmed with everything; I couldn't think straight. It all came crashing down on me as I slowly realised what was happening.

I was in a coma for over a century. That wasn't normal at all.

My brothers were still alive.

My eyes widened as realisation dawned upon me.

Katherine had won.

She did what she wanted to do all those years ago. She turned them into the monster that she was. And somehow, I was the same.

Tears began to brim my eyes as I let out a shaky breath. Nik didn't know what to do, so instead, he brought my body towards his for a hug.

"Nik, it's all gone wrong. She won, Nik. She did what she wanted to do, and she got away with it." I cried out. I couldn't keep it all in anymore. My thoughts were attacking me, and I was no longer in control of myself. Nik ran his fingers along my back in order to soothe me,

"Who did, love. Tell me who you like this, and I will find them and make them hurt for hurting you." He sounded completely serious when he spoke. That's what scared me. He really would hurt them without a second thought.

"Katherine Pierce."

A look of realisation hits him as he puts together the pieces. He then realised how upset I really was about the whole situation and how I hadn't realised it until now.

"Come on, love. You're tired. Let me take you to my home. I promise we will find your brothers later. But right now, you are my top priority," Nik spoke. At this moment in time, I was too exhausted to retaliate, so instead, I nodded.

And so he took me away, still having a firm hold on me, as though I might disappear if he lets go. But the truth was that I didn't know what to do. I felt so utterly lost in this modern world. And I hated it.

AN: I'M SO SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG, BUT IT'S FINALLY DONE.
I've been working on this bit by bit as the days went on, but my brain just wasn't able to do it all in one go. So I'm so sorry for the late post, but it's here now.
