You anxiously waited at the door while you waited for Jeongyeon to open it. You hadn't been together long but when she sent you a message saying she was having a bad time with anxious thoughts and skipped practice today because of it, you knew you wanted to come over and make sure your girlfriend was okay.

A moment after ringing the doorbell, you heard rustling behind the door as Jeongyeon unlocked it for you. Her face was the picture of surprise when she cane face to face with you as your visit was unexpected but after a few seconds to take everything in, the corners of her lips curled into a smile. It was a very small one but a smile nonetheless.

She was still in the sweats and t-shirt she had worn to bed the night before. With a dull look in her eyes and a pale face, you knew immediately that she had barely slept and had been kept up long into the night with the thoughts running through her mind.

"Hi baby," you greeted her with a shy smile. "I know you're having a tough day so i figured I'd come over to look after you. If that's okay with you, of course, if I'm intruding and you'd rather be alone, that's fine too."

You said the last sentence quickly, hoping this wasn't the case. Sometimes the best cure for anxiety was just pure distraction from the intrusive and unnecessary thoughts so if distraction was what your girlfriend needed, you were more than happy to provide it.

"Thank you," she whispered, standing aside to let you enter. You closed the door behind you and pressed a lingering kiss on her forehead as she reached for your hand to lead you to the living area. With blankets strewn across the couch and a random reality show playing on the tv, it was obvious she had just been spending her time here until your arrival.

She was about to sit down on the sofa before you tugged your hand free from hers and gestured for her to wait. She gave you a puzzled look but watched as you sprawled out on the sofa before motioning for her to lay down on top of you, resting her head on your chest.

"This feels good," Jeongyeon mumbled as your hand made its way to the exposed skin of her back as you stroked it soothingly in circles to help ground her.

"I'm glad," you replied, smiling down at her. "Do you want to talk about what has you this anxious? These kinds of days are rare for you so you must be overwhelmed right now."

She shook her head gently against you.

"It just sort of happened, you know? Like out of nowhere these feelings crept up on me. It's not that I'm anxious about anything in particular, I think it's just all the busyness of life catching up to me."

"I understand, darling," you said, kissing her temple. "Sometimes there's nothing to be anxious about but our brains still find a way to be anxious."

She hummed in agreement, and you could feel her muscles relaxing as she leaned into you touch.

You fell into a comfortable silence with the only noise in the apartment being the tv show that was still on. At this moment, all Jeongyeon needed was your presence to start feeling better. And she was starting to feel better. She didn't feel up to holding a conversation and you could tell so you weren't going to pressure her into one. You accepted her as she was and you would support her how she needed to be supported right now.

After a while, your hand had naturally moved to your girlfriend's head and you were running your fingers through her hair, stopping occasionally to gently scratch her scalp as she sighed in contentment. You didn't know how much time had past cuddled like this when Jeongyeon broke the silence.

"Thank you for coming," she said. "I really appreciate it. I know we haven't been dating that long but I don't think anyone has ever come over to care for me like this. It means more to me than you'll ever know."

"Of course," you replied without hesitation. "If there's anything more I can do, please tell me. I'm here for you know and I plan on being here for you for a long time."

Looking down at her, you finally saw a proper smile on her face at your words. She nuzzled herself closer against you as quiet fell over you once again. This time, the silence wasn't just comfortable but had an air of happiness alongside it and you basked in the feeling together.
