Have you moved on? (Sana)

Everyone around you was laughing at a story Jeongyeon was telling but if someone were to ask you what exactly they were talking about you would have no idea. Yes, you were sprawled out on the sofa, sandwiched between Tzuyu and another of your mutual friends and in the centre of the conversation circle but you hadn't actually heard a word of the conversation for the past fifteen minutes.

Not since Sana arrived, returning from a first date. A successful date too, clearly, judging by her wide beaming smile and how she had settled on an armchair on the edge of the group and had spent every moment since glued to her phone, her effervescent smile still present and occasionally biting her lip as she typed faster than the speed of light.

And you knew in your heart that she must have looked the exact same way a couple of years ago when the two of you started dating.

You had dated for almost two years before calling it quits not so long ago. It was an amicable split and there wasn't any bad blood between you both, things just didn't work out. You agreed to stay in each other's lives as friends, although that was very much expected seeing as you two shared a tight knit friend group. You were happy to still have her in your life and you had thought you had completely moved on until last week when she announced that she was going on a date with a person she had recently met.

And, boy, did that change things.

Listening to her gush about her crush and their upcoming date this past week sparked feelings of hurt deep inside you that you hadn't expected to feel. You had thought you were fine with how things were between you both but now you couldn't help wish that she wasn't starting to date again. Which, of course, would lead you to a feeling of endless guilt for even entertaining that idea because she was clearly so happy to be going on a date with this person and, after all, all you wanted was for her to be happy. So you listened to her all this week when she would call asking your opinion on where they should go or what she should wear. You were friends after all, probably even best friends because you dated for so long you both knew each other like nobody else. And when she constantly checked in to make sure you were fine with her talking about these topics, given your history, you lied and said you were.

So you only had yourself to blame for this mess.

You were completely lost in your thoughts, only to come back to earth abruptly when you felt a jab at your ribs and turned to see Tzuyu facing you.

"Is everything okay?" Tzuyu asked quietly and you silently thanked her for her subtlety because most of the other girls, except for maybe Mina, probably wouldn't have been able to speak so low.

"It's complicated," you muttered and she reached for your hand to give you a single comforting squeeze.

"You were staring at her when you zoned out," Tzuyu told you, giving the slightest nod over to your ex girlfriend who was still in a blissful daze staring at her phone. It was like she was in her own universe, light years away from the boisterous debate brewing that everyone was taking part in other than the three of you.

"Of course I was," you groaned, annoyed at yourself.

"Do you want to talk about things?" Tzuyu asked hesitantly, not knowing if it was something that would help you or make you feel more upset.

You shook your head.

"I can handle it," you assured her. "I'm going to grab a glass of water from the kitchen and take a few minutes to compose myself and then I'll be okay."

She looked at you doubtfully but you gave her a reassuring smile as you stood up from the sofa so she dropped the subject for now. You weaved around the legs of those who were on the sofas as well as around the people who were more comfortable sitting on the floor before heading down the hallway to the empty kitchen.
