First Kiss

It was bound to be a peaceful morning if Horror awoke to the sun peeking through the curtains instead of Killer barging through the door and talking his non-existent ears off while he dragged Horror out of bed. Horror was slow to waking up but decided to get up while he could, less he wanted Killer to get to him first.

The gang's small vacation had been flawless so far. If you'd count nearly driving off a cliff, trespassing on graveyards and Dust yelling at the car as perfect, it was. And Horror did. He was surprised they hadn't ended up in a ditch yet, entropy was the group's specialty, though Killer played a crucial role in most cases.

Horror pushed his swarming thoughts aside and got out of bed with a groan. He dressed himself comfortably and waggled to the kitchen. He tried his best to get used to the small kitchen in the vacation home Nightmare had rented for their little get away. As he flipped pancakes with one swift, practiced movement, he also filled the picknick basket.

It didn't take long for Dust to emerge from the hall. She had bags under her eye-sockets as though she hadn't slept in years, after her and Killer's late night graveyard mischief, Horror was hardly surprised. Soon as she sat down at the countertop, across from Horror, he shoved a plate of eggs and bacon in her direction.

Dust couldn't help but crack a little smile at the smiley face Horror had crafted. Horror handed her a knife and fork, she dug in. Soon enough, the rest awoke as well. Cross reassured a tired Killer and Dust that they wouldn't do anything too exciting today. Nightmare hummed in agreement, the images from last night permanently etched into his memory.

Killer got an egg with pepper and Cross got one with salt. Horror handed Nightmare his morning coffee and then he cooked one final egg for himself. After Horror was satisfied with feeding all of his lovers, Nightmare teleported all of them to the desolate Seashell beach. It was a small patch covered in grains of sand that Killer had accidentally been dumped in during Multiverse travel misfunction.

It was one of their favourite spots to hang. The raft Dust and Cross had build was still there, tied to a wooden pole on the shore which was the only thing that made sure it didn't drift off into the sea. Killer skipped through the sand happily, Horror beamed as he recalled how excited Killer got when taking about summer sun beaches. The big guy chuckled when he saw Cross getting dragged into the cool waters.

Dust followed after them with a groan. "You do your thing, love. I shall lay down the blankets." Nightmare's voice boomed, with a quick peck to Horror's cheek the deity retreated into the shadows. Horror wobbled over to the ocean. It was a beautiful sea with colourful tropical coral reef and clear water. It wasn't polluted yet, and he hoped it never would be. Horror stood tall in the waters looking at the ground, waiting.

He'd scared the fish as he'd submerged the lower part of his waist but he waited patiently for the fear to subside. He could make out that his lovers were looking at him through the corner of his working eye-light. He ignored it when he spotted a larger fish swimming past him. At least, it tried to but Horror ducked down and caught it in a vice grip before it could swim out of his reach. His lovers cheered as he resurfaced, thrashing fish in hands.

Their lunch consisted of cooked fish, different kinds, all fresh from the sea. The many compliments on how good the water creatures tasted made him smile. Nightmare only huffed fondly as Horror even got a proper kiss from Cross. Their first real kiss might he add, Cross had never initiated affection on his own. He'd reasoned with: "long as Horror's here, I'll always eat wonderfully."

Horror couldn't stop himself from tearing up as the words left Cross' mouth to which all of his lovers comforted him in a big hug.
