This is a continuation of the small vacation from the chapter First Kiss which is chapter 6.
They go on a hike/picnic. It's very wholesome overall :)

After their day at the beach they returned home to rest their weary bones for the next day. Horror packed for it in advance and Killer hurried down to the little corner shop to get a map for their hike.

Typically, when he came back he'd bought more than necessary. And although it was endearing to see that he'd bought suncream and sunglasses and all sorts of stuff to prevent them from burning to piles of ash,

Nightmare was not thrilled about the fact that Killer had bought it all with her credit card. As always, she let him off the hook when he promised to never do it again. Supposedly it was Nightmare's fault as she shouldn't trust Killer with anything in the first place. Maybe that was being a little harsh. Killer could surely follow instructions when he had to. Sometimes.

The dispute was quickly forgotten when Cross started leaping with enthusiasm. After all, the soldier loved the outdoors and to train his endurance.

Horror couldn't really explain it, but he looked cute when Killer slathered him in suncream and proceeded to hand him the map that detailed the hiking trail. Cross was already off as Killer gave Dust a grey cap that had the words 'fish' and 'women' embedded into the front.

Nightmare got a nice straw hat with a few flowers intertwined with the ribbon and Horror got a military print fisher hat, at least that's what it looked like to him. After Killer was done giving them gifts, they were off, following Cross' lead.

The soldier gave them directions all the way to where the pathways began. Everyone knew they'd started the hike when there were no more houses to be seen through the trees.

"If anyone starts ta git bothered by mosquitoes, I go' ya covered." Killer started explaining. The rest of the poly let him fret over them. After all, this was one of the few times Killer showed genuine concern without it being an actual threatening situation.

Horror had always expected Cross to fawn over them, or Nightmare perhaps. But no, Killer turned out to have a slight fear of creepy crawlies.

After an hour or two, Nightmare pulled the 'I'm tired and hungry' excuse which led them to find an open clearing and set up a blanket. Horror retrieved the food and drinks he'd packed this morning from the backpack Cross had been carrying with him.

The soldier boy had offered to carry it and Dust took him up on the offer that she'd drag it the rest of the way. All of them took sips from the water bottles and bites of Horror's sandwiches.

"Stars, Ro." Cross mumbled. "How do you make simple sandwiches taste so delicious?" Horror preened at the praise, taking another bite of his bread as he leaned back into a tree.

Dust thanked him with a smile as the big guy pulled out some berries and Cross and Killer fought for the chocolate that magically appeared out of a secret pocket. Horror remained seated while Nightmare leaned into him, leaning against his shoulder.

"Better?" Horror asked in relation to Nightmare's previous complaints. They all knew she had a bad spine injury from where her tentacles sprouted forth.

"A little longer, if you do not mind." She mumbled and sighed contently. Dust shuffled over to them and edged a berry to her lips. Nightmare ate it out of her hand with ease, the same went for the berries that followed.

Horror's attention shifted to the chocolate addicts, who computed to break the bar in half and stuff it down their gullets. The big guy handed them some tissues to wipe their faces [fucking animals].

After yin and yang were done cleaning themselves, and each other, they crawled closer to their lovers. Killer plopped his skull down in Horror's lap and Cross curled into his other side. Dust proceeded to claim the remaining berries as her own and decided to sit in Nightmare's lap.

All of them basked in the fiery sun, with soft banter and a few kisses, until it was time to continue the hike.

Yes, all the chapters will be this short. I limited myself to one page per chapter.
