I wake up the next afternoon completely disoriented. My body is sore and my head aches when I try to sit up. I groan groggily as I sit on the edge of my bed and cradle my head in my hands.
"Hey," Eve greets as she sits beside me. "I heard you waking up and brought you some water and a pain reliever." She holds the pills out to me, which I take obediently and pop them in my mouth. I take huge gulps of the water, swallowing the pills and handing it back to her.
"Thanks," I croak. "What the fuck happened?" I ask, feeling her hand rub up and down my back.
"It's a vampire thing." She says, shame thick in her voice. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize it would be so strong."
"What was it?" I rub my temples with my thumbs.
"Vampire venom. It flows from glands, like saliva glands, but it only comes out when we smell or taste blood. It's something that happens, I guess, when vamps are trying to make someone more willing to be bled if they are drunk, they use it as a way to subdue." she shrugs, rocking the bed slightly and I groan again. "I'm sorry," she repeats.
"I don't regret a damn thing from last night, but this headache sucks ass." I lay back on the bed and stretch my arms over my head.
"You're the one who bled into my mouth." She reminds me humorlessly.
"Yeah, I did do that." I laugh as I remember dragging my tongue across her fangs. Her reaction was intoxicating, seeing how she went crazy for me, climbing on top of me like that. I would do it again, I don't even care.
"Maybe you should sleep longer, it will help." She suggests as she lays beside me and puts her head on my chest, tracing her cold fingers up and down the bare skin of my stomach.
"What time is it?" I close my eyes, considering her offer.
"After five." she flattens her hand and starts rubbing that up and down my stomach now, and I exhale, really liking the feeling of her skin on mine. I'm always hot it seems, on the verge of overheating constantly, and her coolness is refreshing.
"Ugh," I complain, squeezing my eyes shut. "I'm supposed to work tonight." Only two hours from now, in fact, and I know this headache will not be gone by then.
"Oh," she sighs, and she rubs her hand across the bottom of my stomach, her pinky slipping under my boxers on the way by. I turn my head to gaze at her, and she looks up at me, smirking. "Perhaps a shower, then."
"Probably necessary," I nod, her eyes glinting as she flicks my boxer band and I bite my lip looking at the ceiling. "Oh you are trouble." A laugh rumbles in my chest as she gets up and saunters out of the room, giggling.

"You look like absolute shit, my guy." Benny says, slapping me on the shoulder. It jolts me, and my head protests.
"Oh god, I feel it too." I stretch out, putting my hands behind my neck and closing my eyes.
"Haven't talked to you in a few days, did ya hear about that lawyer who got shot in his driveway?" He makes small talk through a mouthful of an orange slice, and My stomach clenches ast the memory. Yeah, I heard about it. I was fucking there.
"No, I didn't. Do they know what happened?" I play dumb, swallowing the lump in my throat.
"Yeah, he prosecuted a member of the Moons a few years ago and the guy just got out, decided to repay a favor. Couple guys in a blacked out SUV shot his car sky high in the middle of the day. Poor guy was full of holes." He pops another orange in his mouth, chewing loudly and slapping his lips. I grit my teeth, suddenly very irritated. That's not even why he was killed. Nicolas must've covered up his involvement and made up a story to spread.
