I didn't get why Emily was breaking up with me. Hearing her tell me it wasn't working really hurt. I walked into my mom's office and told her I wasn't feeling good. It was the last day of school so she didn't get mad that I wanted to go home. I cried my eyes out when I got home. I didn't know what I did wrong or anything. I fell asleep crying that night. I didn't even get out of bed for dinner. The next day I messaged her asking for an explanation on why it wasn't working out. Emily didn't answer me she just left me on read. After a few hours, my phone went off I was hoping it was Emily but it was Ava. She asked if she and I could try again but I told her no because I wanted Emily.
A few days went by and I tried to focus on practice but I couldn't. I was glad the session was getting ready to end. After the last game, I asked my mom if I could go stay with my grandparents for the rest of the summer. It had been years since I had seen my grandparents and I figured it might be better to stay with them for a bit. My mom and dad talked it over and finally, they said I could spend the rest of the summer with them. I was glad to be going back to my hometown. I haven't been back there since I was thirteen. I used to go spend the summers with my grandparents until I got into Baseball. I called my Grandpa Jonny to tell him the good news. My grandpa was so glad to hear I was coming. I just couldn't wait to get packed so I ran upstairs and started to pack.
The next day I was ready to go. All my things were packed and my ticket was brought. An hour before the plane was hell. I couldn't wait to get out of town. So many things reminded me of things Emily and I used to do. Madison asked me if I wanted to hang out with her but I told her I was going to my grandparents. I didn't tell her why I decided to go visit them. My parents didn't even know the real reason why I decided to go. My mom made sure I had everything and kissed me goodbye when I was at the right spot to get on the plane. My mom couldn't go all the way to the airport with me.
A few hours later I was finally in Nebraska. I saw my grandpa and grandma at the airport to get me. I got big hugs from them when I saw them. I tried to call my mom to tell her I got there safely but my phone didn't have any service so once I got back to my grandparent's house I used their house phone to call my mom. My mom was so glad to hear I got there safely and told me to call her whenever to check in through the house phone. My mom understood where my grandparents lived there was no cell service. I was okay with being without my phone. It gives me time to think and to get over my breakup with Emily.
There were so many things to do at my grandparents. They lived on a farm, so I could mess with the animals and play baseball in the field or just hang out with some old friends who still lived there. I had a horse I called midnight at my grandparents. He was my horse since I was younger. I used to go riding to get rid of the thoughts and feelings I was going through when I was younger. I was hoping that hiding him again would help how I feel. I straddled him and decided to go for a ride with him. I rode him down a path I never rode with him before. My grandpa made more paths to ride on since the last time I rode. I rode him till I saw a beautiful waterfall. Once I reached the waterfall I got down and decided to sit out there for a while to think. I knew there was no hope of getting Emily back but I didn't know If I could move on from her. Something was still holding me onto the feelings I had for her.
It started to get late so I rode back home and put midnight up for dinner. After dinner, my grandma came into my room asking me what was going on. I didn't really know how to answer her but she knew exactly what to say. Hearing the stories of how my grandmother and grandfather got together was a very beautiful story but hearing everything they went through together from when they were in high school together till where they are today. Learning my grandparents have gone through so much when he was in the army. They have lasted through so many problems but their love got them through it. If mine and Emily's love couldn't get through whatever happened then it wasn't a real type of love.
