Mun let the rocks fall to the floor, yelling out before running out Myeong-hwi, jumping and kicking him in the chest. Mun dodged the first stick thrown at him, but the second one was stopped just inches from his face. Yang threw it onto the ground with a look of distaste, wiping his hand on his pants. "That gave me a splinter."
"Kids," Mo-tak said, joining the two. He looked between them. "Let's get that asshole first."
They ran at him, alternating attacks and hits. Yang could tell that the other two were growing frustrated but didn't give up as Myeong-hwi barely reacted and sent hits back like it was nothing. He pushed Mo-tak out of the way with ease and kicked Yang's legs out from under him, winding Mun and hitting him backwards, the youngest Counter hitting his head.
Mo-tak wrapped his arms around Myeong-hwi from behind as Yang ran to Mun's side. "Come on, come on, So Mun." He muttered, hands shaking as he glanced between Mun and Mo-tak nervously.
"We've known each other for seven awful years." Yang heard Mo-tak say to Myeong-hwi, now straddling his waist as the mayor was on the ground. "It's time to put this behind us, you asshole." Mo-tak was thrown backwards.
Now the only one still yet to be winded and thrown backwards by Myeong-hwi, Yang rose to his feet as Myeong-hwi stood up. He threw punches that landed and managed to deflect a few, the evil spirit getting a cut on his cheekbone, before he hit his hand into the center of Yang's chest, winding the Australian and sending him flying backwards.
As Yang wheezed to catch his breath, he watched Mun and Mo-tak try to fight with Myeong-hwi, only to get thrown back onto the floor. He struggled to get up, his legs giving out when he first managed to stand.
"So Mun! Su-jin!"
"No!"
Myeong-hwi sent a strong force towards Mae-ok as she ran over. Mun tried to absorb the blast for himself, but he fell onto Mae-ok, the woman landing against a large stone. Yang's eyes widened when he saw the dazed look on her face, quickly running over to her while yelling her name, crouching next to Mun.
"Ms Chu!" Jang-mul yelled as he ran over.
"Old man," Mo-tak addressed the chairman, standing up and walking over. "Please keep her safe. Mun, Yang."
"Yes?" Mun looked up at him but Yang couldn't tear his eyes from Ms Chu.
"Ha-na needs us." Mo-tak ran off, and Yang realized that Myeong-hwi had disappeared. Yang wiped his eyes quickly, glancing at Ms Chu one last time before he followed the other two.
When the three got there, Ha-na was on top of Hyang-hee and starting to process of summoning the evil spirit. Yang looked away, as always, as she started thrashing and trying to resist the process. The men watched carefully, on edge and ready to intervene if needed.
After two screams from Hyang-hee, she fell limp. The men walked over to Ha-na as she caught her breath before she went into Yung. Mo-tak patted her shoulder. Yang turned to Mun and pulled his sleeve over his hand, gently dabbing at the blood that had dribbled down Mun's face.
. . .
Wi-gen stood at the head of the table. Mun stood to the side of her, Mo-tak, Gi-ran, Yang and Chaewon on his right. Opposite them stood Ha-na, U-sik, Mae-ok and Su-ho.
Ha-na sighed. "I'm sorry. It's my fault. The staffs... I'm sorry."
"I know you did your best, given the situation," Wi-gen assured her.
"It's a shame that the staffs are broken," Mun spoke up, "but even after the barrier disappeared, we put up a good fight against Shin. If we work as a team, and stay as a team..." He glanced at Yang, who didn't meet his eyes, "we can catch him. We can do this."
