After the battle at the Ruins of Gorlan, many years ago, all the Wargals were defeated and killed. Or so they thought. There were screeches and wails from the hideous creatures as they roamed around.
There was no master for them, because Morgarath was dead. But, there was a possibility. The ground shook as rocks and boulders flew everywhere. And a Kalkara rose from a cave.
It had been wounded decades ago, but with it's long fur and thick skin and scales, it took decades to heal. There was a shocking roar as it broke out, and birds for kilometers around flew out of their trees.
Way off, the Ranger Gilan, also the commandant of the Ranger Corps, heard the roar. He had been traveling through the forest after a visit to his old mentor Halt.
His horse, Blaze whinned and shook its mane. "Its ok Blaze, I heard it to. But I wonder what it is." He said reassuringly.
He turned Blaze towards the noise, and they trotted after the sound. About half an hour later they broke out from the forest. Gilan noticed where the noise had led. It was the Ruins of Gorlan.
He dismounted his horse and pulled his cowl over his head. He then walked carefully to the Ruins. He stopped as another roar burst through the air.
Gilan wanted to sprint back to the forest when he saw what lay ahead. Half a kilometer off, there was a Kalkara. "How in the blazes did it survive?" He asked no one in particular.
He didn't wait to think over the answer, because the Kalkara had heard him. It looked to him and let out another deafening roar.
Gilan sprinted back to Blaze and mounted quickly. He was about a 6 day ride from Redmont. There he could warn Halt and the Baron, and figure something out.
He sighed quietly as he raced through the forest, the Kalkara roaring loudly behind him. He flinched as the birds flew away once again.
He would start hunting the Kalkara when he warned Halt. Or more correctly, be hunted by the Kalkara. Again.
