How would a famous family be able to hold a wedding without paparazzi?
By going half way around the world. Obviously. So that's what we were doing for Vic's wedding.
And that was how I had wound up on an airplane sitting between Lily and Hugo.
"The sunset's so pretty!" Lily said.
"I'm sure it is," I said sarcastically.
"Right, I always forget that you still can't see color," Lily said.
"Dom still couldn't see color till the summer before seventh year either," I retorted.
"Actually between your different birthdays and when in summer it is, you're older than Dom was when she met her soulmate," Hugo said.
"I expected Lily to tease me about this, but not you," I said.
"I'm just making sure everyone has their facts straight," Hugo explained.
"Shut up."
-Time Skip-
When stepping outside of the airport I saw all the parents looking around and counting heads. I looked around at the surrounding landscape.
Even in black and white the city was beautiful. I liked the look of the tall, slim buildings.
"Louis, come on!" Lily shouted.
"Coming," I followed the rest of our huge crowd of a family away from the airport.
-Nicolas-
Deep breaths.
I grabbed my backpack and crept out into the living room of The Apartment. Crossed the room and reached the window.
Now I had to open the window without making too much noise. I pried it open and climbed outside and onto the fire escape. I closed the window behind me.
Sighed with relief.
I left The Apartment, which was on the fourth floor.
I walked a few blocks to meet Grant and Brentlee at the bus stop.
"Hey, you made it!" Grant exclaimed.
"So did your Dad let you out or did you sneak out again?" Brentlee asked.
"What do you think?" I said.
"You never know when a miracle can happen." Brentlee said with a shrug.
Grant and Brentlee had been my best friends since Freshman year. They were soulmates and had met about two weeks into high school.
"Ready?" Grant asked.
-Louis-
"I can't believe they let us go exploring without adult supervision," Lily said.
"It's because everyone's busy," I said.
"Rose didn't was us to," Hugo added.
The three of us were walking down the streets of New York, taking in the sights and honestly I wasn't sure what else we were going to do.
We reached a cross walk and watched the no walk sign. I spotted a few other teenagers across the street, two boys and one girl.
I happened to catch the gaze of one of the boys, who then smiled at me. His skin was splotches of pale atop a warm brown.
A warm BROWN.
Color.
I stumbled back in shock.
"Louis?" I faintly heard Lily calling my name.
"Earth to Louis, are you alright?"
I barely heard her. I rose up on my toes to try to see across the crowds again, but the boy was nowhere to be seen.
I had just met my soulmate, and he was a random boy on the streets of New York.
"Louis?" Lily asked again.
The don't walk sign had changed to green, and I started to run across the street.
"Louis what?" I heard Hugo shout.
"What in the name of Merlin are you doing?" Lily yelled.
"Louis? Louis!"
Heeeeeeeeeey. I'm back with another soulmate au in the wonderful world of colors. What do you think so far?
