-Roxanne-
I arrive at the dormitory with Elliott and Alice.
"I'd like to re-apologize for my cousin earlier," I say.
"It's fine. Thanks for helping afterwards," Alice say.
"Course. I told James it was a bad idea."
Elliott's been giving me the cold shoulder.
"He still did it. And ya brother probably had a part too." Elliott finally speaks to me and punctuates it with an eye roll.
"Be nice, Ellie," Alice says, elbowing her.
Elliott just shrugs.
"It's no big deal. I'm used to people being judgy," I say. I put on a smile and hope it masks the slight pain I feel each time Elliott jabs.
I am used to it. It's been years, since before my brother and I were born, but every other day someone mentions my dad's dead brother and offer their condolences.
Watching him is probably how I learned to hide my emotions so well.
I start unpacking my stuff. I have the bed closest to the door. Alice has the one in the middle and Elliott's by the window.
I'm looking through some of my stuff from my dad's shop when someone looks over my shoulder.
"God, you're just like them. I bet you were in on the whole egg thing and just felt bad afterword. Seven years putting up with this will be hell."
I look to see Elliott peering at my stuff.
Alice opens her mouth to tell her off again, but I beat her to it.
"Oh knock it off. It's just a bit of fun. I've got daydream charms. What are you doing during History of Magic?" I quip.
"Daydream charms? Don't those have a minimum age requirement?" Alice asks.
"Not when your dad's the owner," I tell her.
I stuff all my joke products back in my trunk and slam it shut.
I tell myself that I don't care what Elliott thinks of me, but I do care. So I bite my tongue and take her jabs.
Thanks a lot James.
-Elliott-
I'm half asleep when Alice shrieks on the morning of our first day at Hogwarts.
"What in the world Ali?" I ask as I pull my pillow over my head.
"Color! I knew it would happen at Hogwarts, I just knew it!"
I sit up and stare at her.
"What?"
"Color, Elliott. Color!" Alice yelps.
I realize what she saying. Time for that acting skills.
"Oh wait, me too!" I say rubbing my eyes.
"We both have soulmates at Hogwarts!" Alice says.
Across the room Roxanne sits up.
"Oh, dang that's bright," she says.
Alice turns to look at her.
"You too?"
Roxanne nods.
"How'd you sleep through the screaming?" I ask.
"With my family, I've gotten used to it."
We go downstairs for breakfast and I just follow Alice, to be honest. We wind up sitting with James and the twins.
While Ali still seems to be suspicious of the boys, she's all for forgiving Roxanne, which I'm not sure I totally agree with.
However it happened, all five first year Gryffindors are sitting together.
Five years later...
-James-
First day of sixth year.
A lot has happened since I started at Hogwarts. Being sorted in Gryffindor didn't take the pressure off my siblings. He says he's fine, but I think Albus is still being bullied for being in Slytherin.
But I know he'll be alright. He's not alone in Slytherin. He's got Dominique and his best friend Scorpius. Besides, I'm pretty sure Rose jinxes anyone who tries to bully him.
As for Lily, she joined me in Gryffindor, along with Rose, Hugo, and Louis. She hangs with Hugo, Louis, and a pair of blonde twins she met first year.
I pull a lot of pranks with Freddie and Roxy. I don't think Alice quite forgives me yet, but she's gotten less cold over the years. I'm pretty sure Elliott hates all three of us.
Rox pretends she doesn't care.
-Roxanne-
I'm walking toward lunch with James and Freddie when we run into Dominique.
"Hey idiots!" she says. "Not you, Roxy. You're a prank goddess." Dom is a trouble maker in her own right, she'll lead the team against us when the family launches a prank war. At school, her trouble hinges more off spiting people who bully her for being in Slytherin.
"Hi Dom. How's that project of yours going?" I ask.
"Oh great! I'd tell you more, but I have to pick up a top-secret delivery from Louis and Lily," she says.
"Don't tell me it's Hugo's cat again," I say.
"In that case, I'm definitely not kidnapping a cat right now." Dom darts off.
"Oh, she's totally taking that cat to her common room," Freddie says.
"Oh, One hundred percent," I reply.
We sit down near Elliott and Alice in the great hall.
"Ladies," James says with a nod.
Elliott ignores him and Alice scoffs.
"I was eleven," James says with a pointed look at Alice.
"And you're still an idiot," she replies.
"She's not wrong," I tell my cousin.
"You're not helping," he tells me.
I shrug.
"Helpings not my job."
"Any luck in the soulmate department?" I ask, looking around the table. We all started seeing color when we reached Hogwarts.
"Elliot has!" Alice tells me. Despite not linking James, Alice and I get along just fine.
"Have not!" Elliott says.
"Have too!"
I raise an eyebrow.
