-Elliott-

"They write sometimes, that's all." I say.

"Really? Mine never replies to a thing I write." Roxy says.

"It's kind of annoyin' honestly. They never shut up," I say.

"Gosh, Ellie. They're your soulmate. Of course they want to talk to you!" Alice says.

"Whatever. I'm pretty sure soulmates are fake anyway."

"Why would you say that?" James says incredulously.

"Well, of course you're shocked. You're parents lived a hallmark movie," I tell him.

"Didn't your parents also-" Ali starts.

"Yeah, but they also don't push an agenda of the systems perfection on me. And both my dads have said they wanted to just not have to worry about their soulmate in seventh year."

"My parents don't push an agenda-" James starts.

"I'd say soulmates are pretty real," Fred says. "Try saying they aren't to my dead uncle Fred's soulmate."

James and Roxanne both wince at this.

(Can you guys guess who?)

"My birth parents weren't soulmates and it's how I ended up in an orphanage, so pardon me for being bitter," I say with an eye roll.

Everyone stares at me in shock, except for Alice who has heard this story before and merely shakes her head.

From the front of the room McGonagall gets everyone's attention from the front of the room.

"This year we will be starting a new tradition. In honor of the tri-wizard tournament's most valued tradition, we will be having a Christmas ball this winter. That'll be all, enjoy your day."

-Roxanne-

That evening, I stood in the library with James and Fred.

"So what's your brilliant plan this time?" I ask.

"It's a prank for the Christmas ball- nothing too crazy Rox, don't look at me like that!" James said.

He then pulled the Marauders map from his bag.

"So the ball will be held here," he says, jabbing at the great hall on the map.

"Main access points are here and here," Fred adds.

"Our best route to be undetected would be right over here," I say.

"And this is why you're the brains of the operation, Rox," James says.

(Skipping to December- a couple days before the ball.)

"Okay, final plan review," James says. He spreads the map on a table in the corner of the library.

"We stash the stuff in passages here, and here," I say.

"We enter through the main doorway and mingle for an hour," Fred adds.

"We sneak out, get the stuff from it's hiding place, and enter the restricted balcony," James says.

"We set the balloons to release and have five minutes to make it back downstairs," I add.

"Then the balloons drop an explosion of glitter and fireworks from the one and only Weasley's Wizard Wheezes," Fred says.

"And if this goes properly, Elliott won't hate us afterwards," I say.

"And Alice might finally realize I've matured past my eleven-year-old self," James chimes in.

"I've honestly never seen you care so much about someone's opinion Rox," Freddie says as we leave the library.

"What do you mean?" I ask him.

"If anyone else has a rotten opinion about you, you just say 'screw you' and move on. But for the past five and a half years you've been set on getting Elliott Thomas-Finnigan to like you."

"She's my dormmate, it's awkward," I tell him.

He starts to give me a look.

"And she's friends with Alice and I'm friends with Alice so-"

"Okay, I get it, I get it," Freddie says, cutting me off.

He drops the subject, but I think I see him roll his eyes.

Just a few days to the ball.

-Elliott-

I'm in the dormitory with Alice and Roxy getting ready for the ball.

We've been making idle conversation, and to be honest-

I don't really hate Roxy.

James?

Maybe.

But not Roxy.

She's clever and she's smart and-

"Ellie, you ready to go?" Alice asks.

"Yeah, I'm ready."

We head down to the dance and are met by the sounds of chatter and loud music.

Alice stops to talk to someone and Roxy heads to the dancefloor.

"Elliott, you coming?" she calls behind her.

"I'm not much of a dancer," I say, but she grabs my hand and pulls me along.

"Hey!" I call out with a laugh. She spins me around and I laugh.

After awhile I'm sitting with Alice and Roxy went to meet up with some of her family, probably James and Freddie.

"I thought you didn't like Roxy?" Ali asks.

"I don't. But I- I don't dislike her."

"You just danced with her for almost an hour. I'm not sure if I've ever seen you smile so big," Alice tells me.

"Oh, shove off."

-James-

"You ready?" I ask.

I'm crouching on the balcony with Freddie and Roxy, getting ready to pull our biggest scale prank yet.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Roxy says.

We ready the balloons and sneak back downstairs.

Ready or not...

THE DRAMA IN THE NEXT PART IS GONNA BE INSANE!!!!!
