The kiss...was not something Mordecai expected entirely: he didn't hate it, though. Just downright confused.
Each little peck meant something once lost was returned. A kiss to the cheek made just the slightest glimmer of hope come back. However, once Rocky had pressed his lips onto Mordecai's, it was a hit of nostalgia: one of old times, bringing him back to their first kiss. Something spontaneous that had been done by not Rocky, but Mordecai. A banter, lighthearted, bringing the chorus of Rocky's maniacal laughter. That was what lured Mordecai in to give him that quick peck on the mouth, only to quickly walk away—and almost trip
Maybe that was when Mordecai felt that spark...but he was trying to decide whether or not the right amount of space between the two of them was too much or too little, and by that time, everyone already knew.
He had been taken out of his thoughts by another peck to the cheek by Rocky, and another. A tiny smile grew on the tuxedo cat's face, and the tomcat took notice of this, continuing to smother him in affection. At this rate, Mordecai let out a small, soft string of laughter, finally smiling just a bit more.
"There he is~" Rocky let out a small giggle, nuzzling his nose into Mordecai's neck. Mordecai wrapped his arms around Rocky's waist tightly, eyes shutting. A hint of a grin was still on his face. "I just had a feeling where you weren't so serious all the time!"
"And you decided to experiment on this theory by smothering me with your mouth?" Mordecai raised a brow. Rocky gave him another peck, adding another little "mwah!", and Mordecai smiled once again.
"I can see it's working~" Rocky hummed.
"You are entirely too sappy this evening." Mordecai remarked, with a small eye roll.
"Only for you, my darlin'!" Rocky exclaimed. He hugged him tighter, and Mordecai sighed, reluctantly pulling away.
"It's getting rather late, Roark...we have to turn in for the night." He fixed his pince–nez. "Should I escort you to your room?"
"I was wondering if we'd just walk together...no escort needed!" Rocky grinned as Mordecai linked arms with him. However, Rocky pulled away. Mordecai's ears flicked.
"Did I—" He was cut off when Rocky took his hand into his own. "...oh."
"It's okay to let your guard down like this, y'know." Rocky spoke in a soft tone, and the two started walking back into the hotel, now off the roof. They descended the elevator, but it seemed to be taking much longer. Mordecai's hand slipped onto Rocky's waist, and had protectively pulled him close. They pressed their foreheads against each other, and they sat in silence.
...that was until Rocky made a bold move to kiss him again. Mordecai gave a little hum, kissing back, and he was pressed against the elevator wall. Their fingers laced together, and Rocky deepened the kiss. Shocked, Mordecai let out a small "mmph!" as his eyes went wide, but then they dulled. He pressed into the kiss, his back arching slightly and he brought his hand to Rocky's cheek. He nuzzled his face into his neck, his purrs rumbling from his chest.
"...are you purring?~" Rocky let out a giggle. Mordecai let out a small hum, ears flattening and face burning up.
"...no." He denied.
"You are!~"
"No, you...you are just hearing things."
"I don't think so!~"
Mordecai rolled his eyes, and internally cursed himself when his purring did not cease.
"Mmh. Alright, fine." He growled out.
"And it's all for me~" Rocky grinned, and Mordecai let out a small noise of shock when Rocky's fangs dug into his neck. His back arched more, and he pressed his hands against Rocky's shoulders.
