CHAPTER THREE: ARKHAM UNDER
LOCKDOWN

🦇

PACIFICATION CHAMBER

"Someone put this animal back in his cell!" Batman ordered.

A bloody and bruised Victor Zsasz is at once escorted out of the premises in handcuffs by Arkham guards to his cell.

"This isn't over! I'll get out of these damn handcuffs soon enough! You will be the next tally mark on my skin! I promise you that!" Zsasz exclaimed.

Batman and Batwoman don't pay any attention to the mumbling deranged rants of the murderous Zsasz. Moments later a chime then rang in the couple's earpieces and it was Oracle on the other phone line.

"Batman. Batwoman. Are you there?" Oracle asked.

"Yes, we're here, Oracle. Go on." Bruce said.

Oracle was typing onto her high-tech computer keyboard like crazy and looking at the live data stream that was on her computer monitors.

"Arkham Island is gone."

"What?!"Batman stated.

"I mean gone in the sense that it had just vanished from the network a few moments ago," Oracle informed.

"Hmm, looks like Joker's crew have control of Arkham's highly advanced security systems. They must have isolated it from the grid." Batman explained.

"Yeah, well, that's not all he's done..."

Then the pair of crime-fighting heroes receive an incoming phone call and the caller ID reads SON.

"Hold on to that thought, Babs. Jason is on the other line. Yes, Jason. Come in." Harleen responded.

"Hey, mom. Old man. I heard about the Joker's recent escape from the Asylum. Are you two alright? Need any backup?" Jason asked his voice steeped with worry.

"Yes, we're okay, Sweet Boy. It's just a few minor scratches and bruises nothing too serious. We're getting closer to the Joker's trail and won't be needing any backup. Pretty soon this madness of his will end and we'll finally get some well-deserved rest." Harleen responded.

Jason sighed relieved to hear that and spoke up. "Well, that's good news. Because I would hate it if something bad had happened to the both of you."
