     The next few months flew by. Days felt like months and months felt like years. Why did everything have to feel so slow.
     Summer break started. We get a break from school but all I get to do is stay home. I don't really go anywhere.
     Ding! Ding! Ding!
My phone was going off like crazy.
    'Hey guys it's my birthday this Wednesday so any of yall want to come over and stay the night?' Julian texted the group chat we me.
    'Yes please anything to get me away from my house' I replied
    'Count me in to' meri texted
'Ok come to Avery toss road house 5425 at 2 pm'
     'See you there' Meri texted back 
I just send a smiling face.
     I stood up and walked out of my room  I headed to the kitchen and found my mom sitting at the table.
   "I'm going to my friends house Wednesday" I said
    "And you didn't think to ask before?" She questioned
    "I wasn't asking" I said and walked back to my room.

    The days went by super slow.
  Monday.
  Tuesday.
And then finally it was Wednesday.
     'I'm at your door' Meri texted him in the group chat.
    'Ok just a sec' he texted back
Of course I'm last. Only because my mom didn't want to take me so I'm having to go walk.
    'I'm gonna be a little late. Sorry' I texted and put my phone up.
    It went off a few times but I didn't want to check it.
    About 20 minutes passed and I finally arrived.
I knocked on the door and waited for what seemed to be like forever until finally someone opened the door. I really hope I'm at the right house.
    "Hey sweetheart" a voice said
I smile in relief and then rolled my eyes. "Can I come in or do I have to stand out here all day?"
      "I'm still deciding" he said teasing
"Let me in" I said throwing my bag at him. He threw it back at me and opened the door all the way.
    "Fine welcome to my humble home" he said smiling.
   I walked in the house only to realize it was huge. There stories tall. Omg!!
    "Holy shit dude your house is huge" I said
"I've been told" he replied "come on we have to go to the third floor. That's where my room is."
    I followed him up the stairs taking in the beauty of the house. The only thing that bothered me was how it looked on the outside. It looked terrible like the house was run down and broken. It really brings a meaning to don't judge a book by its cover.
    We walked to a room and he opened the door for me. I walked inside the room and saw Meri sitting in a floating chair. A literal floating chair. Well it was hanging by chains from the ceiling but it was still cool.
    "Lenny have you gotten out at all, you look terrible" Meri stated
    "Thanks Merida" I said giving her a death stare.
     "So what do yall want to do?" Julian asked
"I don't know it's your birthday" Merida replied
     Birthday. Shit. I didn't get him a present.
"Oh also Jul I got you a present" Meri added
      "Wait really?" He asked in a surprised voice
"Yeah your our friend I'm sure he got you one to" Meri said pointing at me
    "I did" I replied "but you can't have it till later"
"Aww you're no fun" he said walking over to me and pushing my hair out of my face.
     I turned my face away from him because I felt my face become hot. Shit this has been happening way too often.
    "Please tell me the present is alcohol" Meri said
Julian looked at me nervously
    "No it's not" I replied
He seemed almost relieved when I said that.
     He took a step closer and lifted my chin up with his fingers.
     "Aww Lenny your blushing" Julian said
Fuck. "No I'm not" I replied pulling away from him.
     "You definitely are" Meri said smirking
      Great.
"So what's the gift?" Julian asked
      "You'll find out" I replied walking towards Meri.
    Now I have to find out what to get him. And I cant leave. This is gonna be amazing.
    Bzzz bzzz bzzz my phone started going off. Someone was calling me.
    I took my phone out of my pocket and saw it was my mom. I didn't answer the phone and put it back up in my pocket.
    "Can I sit down" I asked pointing at the bed
He nodded then asked "who was calling you?"
     "A person" I replied
"What person" he asked
      "So what are we gonna do?" I asked trying to change the subject.
     He glared at me as Meri answered the question "I think we should play a game later tonight"
    "Like what?" I asked
"Just answering questions or truth or dare. Something like that. Or we could ask each other questions and we have to tell the truth or we can expose a secret." Meri kept going on and on suggesting more and more ideas.
I looked over at a Julian who was just sitting there staring at me. Once he realized I was looking at him he smirked and walked over to me.
"Your staring" he said lifting my chin up again
"You started it" I replied trying to pull my chin away but he had a firm grip on it.
"Just kiss already" Meri said
That stopped both of us. He let go and I pulled back. Not that we were going to kiss but if we were she ruined the mood.
"We're not going to kiss" I said "we're just messing with each other"
"Exactly" Julian added
"That's not the way it looks" Meri said
"How does it look" Julian asked
"It looks like Julian is madly in love with you and Lennox it looks like you actually like Julian back"

"You're delusional" Julian said while laughing.
I started laughing too.
    "I bet y'all will fall in love with each other" she said
     "Well I doubt that but ok" i replied to her

   Hours passed and we sat in the room and talked. We talked and talked and talked. It felt amazing. Like there wasn't this pressure to be perfect. I could just be free.
    The only problem was I still didn't have a birthday gift.
