Fragments.
All she could remember were fragments. Little shards of her memory. Not just from her childhood, but all through her life, things had been fuzzy. Kasia could remember her parents, her real parents, just not in full detail. They too were fuzzy. The only remnants of her parents were the little baby pictures her adoptive mother kept of her. Her and her brothers. They were the only things in her life that were constant, that weren't as fuzzy as other people, as other subjects. But her childhood, even though she could remember little events here and there, as any young, growing child would, it was different. She knew she had the full picture before her many accidents. She remembered two boys, but now, all grown, she couldn't even remember their faces. She'd known the two boys forever, all the way up to secondary school, but she couldn't even remember them, no matter how hard she tried. She remembered that one of them (or both of them) had the messiest hair she'd ever seen, like a wild bramble bush that couldn't be tamed or trimmed.
"KASIA!"
Kasia's phone buzzed in her pocket, a message from her friend lighting up the screen. As Kasia pulled it out, she nearly fumbled it down to the bus floor as the vehicle took a sharp turn. Her phone buzzed again dully in her hand as she opened it up.
"DID YOU SEE THE NEW ISSUE OF TOKYERO MAGAZINE?!"
Kasis smiled at her screen, shooting her friend, Khaos back a text.
"Yeah! I did! That Creati girl's new line of pantsuits looks amazing!"
Kasia rolled her eyes, already anticipating Khaos' answer. She knew her friend to be more feral, a fiery, short, impish woman who wouldn't let someone know her next move.
"YEAH! AND MIRKO LOOKED AMAZING, DIDN'T SHE?" Khaos texted back in her casual screaming fashion.
"Yeah, and I can bet who you were hoping was in the issue this month..." Kasia clapped back, looking up to the driver, checking her surroundings once again.
"What?! Can you blame me, Kas?!" Khaos texted back again, but quicker. "He's rarely ever in the issues! And I heard his parents were fashion designers!" she continued, spilling a hint of useless wisdom.
Kasia giggled to herself, rolling her eyes as she hiked her bag onto her shoulders, hopping off the bus at her stop, keeping her eyes glued to her phone. "You go absolutely bananas over him every time he shows up."
"Yes! I do! At least I can admit it, Ms. In-Fucking-Denial." Khaos poked at her, taunting her through her texts.
Kasia fumbled through her purse, stuffing her phone back as she grabbed the keys to her apartment. She jammed the key in the lock, shoving the creaky door in. She grumbled as she jammed the door back shut, clicking all the extra locks.
Finally.
She huffed to herself, moving into her living room, tossing her small purse onto her spare chair as she crashed onto the couch. Kasia's ears peaked as she looked down to the hall that lead to her bedroom, hearing long, low meows creeping closer and closer.
"I'm home, Mit." She smiled as she heard her cat's collar bell ringing softly as he crept closer. His fluffy calico still felt warm from the sunlight that streamed into her bedroom. He let out a little mew as he hopped up on the couch with her, sitting just centimeters from her.
Mit meowed in response, extending his front paw repeatedly at her, it was his sassy way of demanding attention.
"Yeah, I know you missed me." Kasia sighed, stroking the fur on his head as his ears sat flat against his head, her touch making him purr gently.
