I woke up, becoming aware that I had fallen asleep on the couch. I sat up slowly, realizing that Jeff was sitting next to me, fast asleep too.

I tried to stand up but realized I was having a bit of a hard time. Jeff woke up, startled.

"Why didn't you call me?"

"You were sleeping, Phi. I didn't really want to disturb you."

"It's ok, Ta. Let's get you showered first, then I fix some breakfast, ok?"

I nodded, grateful for his help. Jeff helped me with my shower and then changed my clothes. I went to comb my hair whilst he took a quick shower himself, then went to prep breakfast.

"What would you like?"

"Anything, Phi. It doesn't matter. I usually don't eat breakfast, actually."

"That's not so good. Breakfast is important, you know that, Ta?"

I nodded, just listening to Jeff nag after that for a good 20 minutes as he prepared the food. Once he was done, we sat down to eat and post our meal, and finally, he asked me what had happened.

I filled him in on how I had seen Jason and my neighbour fight whom, by the way, was his fiance. I could see the look of utter confusion on Jeff's face as he made the connection that Jason was actually a cheating scumbag. He was even more pissed when he found out that Jason had tried to hit his fiance endlessly, which is when I had stepped in and gotten hit instead. I saw Jeff clench his fists in anger.

"I'm okay, Phi. Don't worry. I am just sorry if I worried you."

"Don't be silly. It's ok. I'm just sorry I even let him be known to you. You.. next time, just call me if anything ok? It's ok. I am going to be here for you. I don't want you to feel you are alone."

I nodded. Jeff sighed, and he just patted my hand gently.

"Do you want anything? Just stay here for the weekend, ok? Your manager called me earlier and said it was completely ok and that he felt safer if you stayed here instead."

I just smiled, thanking him softly.

"But I don't have video games here, so you going have to make do without it for the next 2 days."

I laughed out loud! "It's ok, Phi! It's fine. I do other things, too!'

"Like what? It would be nice to know."

I thought very carefully before finally conceding that video games were all I did in my free time. Jeff laughed as he stood up, went to get his guitar, and came back to me. He gave me his guitar and said I could pick up a new hobby for the weekend. I laughed as I just looked at it and then looked at him pointedly, casting a glance towards my arm. Jeff realized his folly and was completely mortified.

I shushed him and said it was absolutely okay and maybe he could teach me. He nodded excitedly. Just then, his manager called, so he went to answer the phone while I switched on the television. I was watching a show when Jeff joined me 10 minutes later, still on the phone. He sat next to me, quietly chatting and just checking on me periodically. I assured him I was fine and continued watching the show.

About half an hour later, he hung up, apologetic as he had to run out for a work related errand. I told him I would be fine and to go on and do his stuff. Jeff nodded, went to change into another outfit for work, and came out. He patted me on my head and told me to call if I needed him and left. I just smiled to myself, thinking about this overprotective Phi of mine.
