Yoon held the doorknob, hesitating continuously.

"What should I do?"

It was a rather awkward situation because she was the only one who hadn't paid the group uniform fee for the school sports festival. After hesitating for a long while, Yoon seemed to make up her mind and finally opened the door and left.

She carefully descended the stairs and caught her breath near the living room where Kim Seo Jeong was. Facing Seo Jeong required a lot of courage for Yoon. That's when it happened.

"What are you doing here!"

It was Yoo Jin, Yoon's same- age stepsister. Surprised at seeing Yoo Jin, Yoon's body trembled.

"Ah...."

In fact, Yoo Jin had swallowed Yoon's group uniform fee. But Yoon was so scared that she couldn't even ask for it back; she would shrink automatically at the sight of Yoo Jin.

"Didn't I tell you to stay out of my sight? Get lost!"

Yoo Jin pushed Yoon away and went to the living room. As a result, Yoon, who was much smaller than Yoo Jin, staggered.

Yoon, leaning against the wall and barely regaining her balance, blankly stared at Yoo Jin's retreating figure, then turned her body around. She had to avoid them when Seo Jeong and Yoo Jin, the mother and daughter, were together.

'One is hard enough, but both at the same time.'

Yoon shook her head. As she climbed the stairs, her small shoulders sagged a bit more than when she had come down.

Her room was at the very end of the second floor. In this large house, only this room was allowed for her.

It was said to be a room that wasn't originally used. It didn't get much sunlight, and because it was so small, it had been used as a storeroom.

As such, there was no bed in the room. It was full with just a small wardrobe and a desk. Still, it was a space she was grateful for, where Yoon could stay most comfortably in this house.

The small window, without curtains, didn't let in much sunlight, but it was nice that she could look up at the blue sky when she looked outside.

At night, she could see the twinkling stars and the moon. Every night, Yoon would look up at the moon outside the window and make a wish.

'Please let me live in my grandparents' house again, just like before.'

Yoon's wish was solely this.

It had been almost two years since Yoon came to this house. Two years ago, after her mother suddenly passed away from cancer, she had to move to her father's house.

Yoon was a daughter born out of her father's affair. A few days before her mother's death, feeling that her end was near, she revealed the truth about Yoon's biological father.

Yoon's father was a Member of Parliament. Therefore, not only her grandparents but also Yoon was very surprised.

It was the same when she entered this house. The house was like a palace she had only seen on television, so it didn't feel real. However, Yoon, who came to live in the palace- like house, didn't even have a hundred won at her disposal, let alone pocket money.

Seo Jeong took care of the money she had to pay for school, and when cash was needed, Yoo Jin paid instead. In fact, Yoon had briefly run away last year.

She snuck into the nearby police station after school, avoiding the driver's eyes, and was pleading with the police officer to let her make a phone call to her grandparents' house. However, she was immediately caught when the driver somehow found out and followed her into the station.
