Emma's pov

As I sat in the hospital room, anxiously waiting for Billy to arrive and help Tessa, the doctor tried to speak to her. "Tessa, I need you to tell me what has happened to you," he said gently. Tessa looked at him with fear and cried out, "No! I can't!"

I felt helpless watching her struggle, and I tried to comfort her. "Tess," I said softly, hoping to get through to her. She turned to look at me, her eyes wide with fear. "I can't," she cried out.

Feeling frustrated and helpless, I knew I had to do something to help her. "Fine, but Billy isn't going to be happy," I said, trying to convince her to open up. She looked at me with wide eyes, and I could see the fear in them. "I don't care!" she shouted, her voice echoing in the small room.

Feeling overwhelmed, I left the room, hoping to find Billy. I quickly dialed his number and spoke to him anxiously. "Where are you? She's freaking out, Billy!" I said, trying to get him to hurry. His voice sounded calm on the other end of the phone. "Listen, babe, I'm here, but there's a small problem. Ricky is here to ensure nobody else comes..." he trailed off.

I felt a wave of panic wash over me as I realized the implications of what he was saying. "You're joking. If Tess finds out, she will not want to leave..." I said, my voice shaking with fear. But Billy cut me off. "Don't tell her," he said firmly and then hung up.

Feeling more confused and uncertain than ever, I walked back into the hospital room, not knowing what to say or do next.

Billy's pov
I checked into the hospital and looked around for Tessa's room. Once I found her room, I took a deep breath and opened the door. "Billy.." Tessa's voice was soft but filled with fear. "Tess.. it's okay. You don't have to be afraid," I say in a comforting voice. "I'm not telling him what happened.." she said, referring to the doctor. "Tess, he wants to know what caused the wounds.." I say. "Billy.. I can't.. it's too scary.." she cried, and I walked over to her. "Someone close to her stabbed her.." I say, and she grabs my arm tight. "the other wounds are from escaping," I flinched as her grip tightened. "Anything else?" The doctor asked. "No sir," I said, and the doctor left the room.

I approached Tess's side and asked her if she was ready to head home. She nodded slowly, and I took a deep breath, preparing to help her out of bed. Looking at her, I noticed she was wearing Ricky's hoodie, which was too big for her. I wanted to ensure she had new clothes, so I said, "We are getting you new clothes. You won't need to wear Ricky's hoodie anymore."

Tess's eyes were saddened at the mention of Ricky's hoodie, and I could tell that the thought of leaving behind a piece of him was complex for her. As we walked out of her room, I approached the lady at the front desk and told her that I was there to check out my sister. She asked me if I was Tess's legal guardian or parent, and I replied, "Yes, ma'am, I'm her legal guardian."

The lady handed me the necessary paperwork to sign Tess out, and I quickly completed it. I wanted to get Tess home as soon as possible so that she could rest and recover more comfortably.

As the three of us stepped out of the hospital, I could feel the tension thick. Tessa's eyes darted back and forth, looking for any sign of danger. My gaze scanned the surroundings, searching for any suspicious activity. But where was Ricky? He had disappeared, and we couldn't leave without him.

I unlocked the car, and Tessa's voice shook as she said, "Billy... what if they find us? What if they know where we're going?"

"It's okay," I said calmly, reassuring her. "We're going home, and they won't know where you're at. We'll be safe."

Emma looked at me, her eyes wide with confusion and worry. "But where's Ricky?" she asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, just as puzzled as she was. But then I saw him in the very back of the car, his finger pressed up to his lips, telling me to keep quiet.
