Once Upon A Curse

chapter 6

Layla held her brothers hand as he was wheeled on a gurney though the hospital as several nurses followed with doctor Whale and Emma. "Henry? Can you hear me? wake up, please, wake up Hen." Layla said her voice breaking with each word.

"Ma'am, let me take you." A nurse said to Layla before she cut her off "NO! I'm not going anywhere he's my brother."

Doctor Whale ruched forward and used a light to test Henrys response. "There is no pupil response. What happened? Did he fall? Hit his head?" Whale questioned Layla and Emma.

"He ate this. I think its poisoned." Emma said holding up a bag with the apple turnover in it.

His airways clear. Did he vomit? Any convulsion or disorientation? Whale questioned further trying to get answers to help figure out what happened to the boy.

"He took a bite of that, and then he just collapsed. So, run the test for arsenic, or bleach, or Drano, or whatever couldve done this to him!" Layla demanded.

"The boy is showing no symptoms that would suggest neurotoxins. So, whatever is going on, this is not the culprit." Whale explained but nether of the believed him fully.

"Well, what else could it be?" Emma asked getting more annoyed my the doctor.

"I don't know. Thats what Im trying to find out." Whale said sighing.

"Hes going to be okay, though, right?" Layla asked him while trying to compose herself so she didn't sound like a spluttering mess.

"Right now, we just need to stabilize him, cause hes slipping away. Is there anything else that you can remember? Any little detail?" Whale question the two girls.

"I already told you everything. Do something!" Emma yelled getting overwhelmed with the situation.

"Look, I understand youre frustrated, Miss Swan, I do. But I need something to treat. And, right now, there is no explanation. Its like" Emma dumps out the contents of Henrys backpack onto a table. She sees his book. "...Like magic." Emma states finishing Whales sentence.

Emma picks up the book and her mind is filled with memories from the Fairy Tale World, particularly the time when she was sent to the Real World as a baby. When she comes to, Regina frantically rushes into the room.

"Wheres my son?" She asked harshly towards the blonde woman.

Layla's eyes glared daggers at her mother knowing she caused this pain to her brother. "You did this." Layla snapped at her mother causing Regina to look at her daughter.

Before Regina can respond Emma grabs Regina and drags her to a storage room. There, Emma throws her against a storage rack. Emma continues the attack, while Regina struggles to defend herself. Emma ultimately ends up pinning Regina to the wall.

"You did this!" Emma said and glared at Regina.

"What the hell are you doing? Stop this! My son-" Regina said trying to act innocent before Emma cut her off.

"Is sick because of you! That apple turnover you gave me? He ate it!" Emma yelled causing Regina's eyes to widen.

"What? It was meant for you!" Regina yelled furiously.

"Its true, isnt it?" Emma asked quietly struggling to believe this was all real.

"What are you talking about?" Regina asked.

"Its true, isnt it? All of it." Emma said pushing her up further against the wall.

"Yes." Regina replied, her voice cracking slightly as she spoke.

"I was leaving town. Why couldnt you just leave things alone?" Emma asked angrily.

"Because as long as youre alive, Henry will never be mine!" she snapped back at Emma.

Layla entered the room to see her mother been pushed up against a wall by Emma.

"Mom, I know what you di now wake him up." Layla said her voice shallow as she refused to meet her mothers eye.

"I can't" Regina replies sadly as it hurt to see her daughter so angry with her.

"Bullshit" Layla screamed and stormed out to return to her brothers side.

A few hours later Layla was glued to a chair beside Henrys bed not daring to take her eyes off him. Her mother left with Ema a couple hours ago and she had no idea where they went.

Henry's heart monitor began beeping faster and Layla was pushed aside by nurses and Doctor Whale. tears streamed down her face as the beeping came to a stop, she was forced out the room while they doctor did everything he could to save her brother.

Emma and Regina come rushing into the hospital as Dr. Whale and Mother Superior exit Henry room.

"We did everything we could." At his words Layla dropped to her knees her little brother was dead and it was her mothers fault. she ignored everyone around her and rushed to the bathroom where she continued to break down.

Meanwhile in Henry's hospital room Emma presses a kiss to Henry's forehead which causes the spell he was under to be broken and a pulse of magic spreads throughout Storybrooke.

Regina freezes as she knows that her curse has been broken and there is no coming back from it her daughter and son both hate her.

In the bathroom Layla breaths heavily as her memories come flooding back. she remembers everything her mother being the evil queen, her possessing the darkest of all magic and Killian, her Killian who her mother had stolen her from. Henry was right her name isn't Layla, its Ciara Daniella Mills.

she rushed back to Henry's hospital room and sighed with relief when she saw he was okay. "Henry" she cried out and pushed Emma aside to hug her brother.

"I'm okay, Emma saved me," Henry said happily hugging his sister.

"No, no..." Regina yells drawing attention to her.

Ciara glared at her mother before saying, "If I were you, Your Majesty, I'd find a place to hide." her voice laced with venom as she spoke to her mother "Cause I will make you suffer for what you did to me and Henry." Ciara continues threatening her mom.

"Henry No matter what you think, no matter what anyone tells you, I do love you, both of you"

Layla watched as her mother fled the room, the curse is broken and she will make her mother pay for taking away her happiness.

The town was swept up in dark cloud of purple smoke, Layla smiled to herself as she felt her magic run through her veins.
