Once Upon A Curse

Chapter 16

Ciara, Hook and David arrive at Granny's with the bean Hook had managed to take from Greg.

"We have the beans." David announced to the room and Emma walked up to him.

"You did it?" Emma asked looking between the three of them.

"Yeah." David replied looking at his daughter.

"You okay?" Emma asks noticing a cut on David's arm, "Oh, it's... grazed. It's fine."

"Okay. Let's get going. Henry?" Emma said grabbing the boy's attention.

"Wh—where's my mom?" Henry asked and Ciara walked forward to hug her little brother. Emma sighed sadly as the boy's question looking between them.

"Regina can hold off the self-destruct device long enough for us to escape, but..." Emma began to explain but Ciara cut her off when she hesitated to tell them, "But what?" Ciara asked and Emma's expression softened at Henry.

"She won't survive." Emma said and Henry broke away from his sisters arms and yelled at Emma, "No. No."

"Henry, I'm sorry. I promised her I'd get you to safety." Emma said trying to reason with her son.

"Screw safety Swan, she's our mother, we can't do this! She's family! We don't leave family behind! Isn't that like your stupid family motto?" Ciara said growing angry at the blonde for suggestion that they just leave Regina behind.

"This is what she wants. We have a way out. We have to take it." Emma explained.

"We saved her from being killed by the Wraith. How is this any different?" Henry asked, his voice breaking at Emma's words.

"Screw all of you, i'm going to help my mother." Ciara said as she disappeared in a cloud of smoke before anyone could stop her.

Ciara reappeared in the mines next to her mother slightly startling her, "Ciara what are you doing here, it's not safe" Regina yelled over the noise.

"I'm not leaving without you so I'm here to help stop this damn trigger." Ciara said and stood opposite her mother who smiled at her softly. Ciara raised her arms allowing the magic to run through her veins before beginning to blast the diamond with waves of magic to slow it down more. Many minutes had past and the two began to grow tired from using so much magic but they knew the others still needed time so the ignored the aches in their arms.

They heard footsteps and Ciara watched as Emma, Mary Margaret, David and Henry walked towards them, "What're you doing here?" Ciara yelled confused as she remembered Emma was not reluctant to leave Regina behind before.

"You were willing to die to save us. That makes you a hero. Now we're gonna be heroes." Henry said smiling at his mom and sister.

"They're gonna open up a portal, throw this thing into a void." David explained.

"No. You don't know that it'll work." Regina yelled at them struggling to keep using her magic.

"We have to try." Mary Margaret yelled back.

"Everybody, step aside. Emma?" David yelled at his daughter signaling to get the bean. Emma pulls out the pouch containing the bean, opens it up, and finds that the bean is gone, "It's empty. Hook" Emma said realising he had stolen the bean.

"We can't contain this much longer." Ciara yelled as she began to fight the fatigue in her body to continue stabilising the trigger. ]

Emma goes over Mary Margaret and David "Mom... Dad... " She says tearfully looking between them. Snow smiled as they pulled Emma into a hug their eyes filling with tears and Henry walked over to his mom and sister.
