I grab the triplets and then grab Lily. I rush them to the car and strap them in. I get in the driver's seat.
"Fuck!" I yell, as the car does not start.
"Fuck," Lily repeats.
"No. No. No. Do not say that word. It is a bad word," I scold.
"Sorry, Daddy," Lily says.
"God damn it. Why are you not starting?" I ask, talking to myself.
"God damn it," Lily says.
"Lily. No. Do not repeat what I say. They are very bad words," I scold.
Lily nods and plays with her Ariel doll. My phone starts ringing. It was Joyce. I answer it right away.
"Where are you guys?" Joyce asks.
"Stuck at the hospital. Dr. Brenner...he found us. He wants Jesse and the children. Jesse is negotiating. The kids and I are in the car which will not start," I say.
"Oh no. Okay. Just turn it off for a few seconds then try again," Joyce says.
I do as she says. The car starts.
"It worked! Thank you!" I say.
Before Joyce replies, I hear a loud whistling sound then a loud bang. The hospital goes up in flames as I see a large explosion. Lily starts crying and screaming.
"What on earth was that?" Joyce asks.
"The hospital just got bombed," I say, starting to drive away.
"Oh shit. Meet me at the entrance of the forest," Joyce says.
"Will do," I say, hanging up.
I rush to the entrance of the forest. Joyce was there. She helps me get the kids out of the car. Lily was no longer screaming but she was crying. A lot.
"I want mommy," Lily sobs.
"I will go save them. Promise," I say.
"I will keep the kids safe," Joyce says.
"I owe you," I say.
I get back in the car and rush back to the hospital. Jesse was standing there in the rubble. I get out of the car and start approaching them.
"I would not recommend getting closer," Jesse says, in a dark voice.
What happened to them? I stop in my tracks.
"Babe, is that you?" I ask, calmly.
"Of course it is. This is my true me," Jesse says.
"What? You-" I start to say.
"Yes. I am a demon. I always have been one. I was the one who started the Hawkins massacre that night. Eleven was never my friend. Neither was Henry. I did this to protect Papa," Jesse says.
"You lied to me?" I ask.
"Yes, I did. Do you still love me?" Jesse says.
"What?" I ask.
"Do you still love me?" Jesse asks.
"I-I mean...yeah...sure," I lie.
"LIAR!" Jesse screams.
"I fell in love with someone else. They were so sweet. Funny. Cute. Adorable. Caring. Kind. Not this...not this demon thing," I say.
I look closer. Jesse's eyes were a glowing reddish orange. It was terrifying. Jesse laughs evilly.
"You are going to die tonight," Jesse growls.
"Jesse, calm down," Dr. Brenner says.
Jesse looks over at him then back at me. Their eyes stop glowing. They run over to me, scared. I wrap my arms around them.
"You did this to them," I say.
"You deserved to know the truth about them," Dr. Brenner says.
"Why would you do this?" I ask.
"To show you the truth," Dr. Brenner says.
A gun shot is heard. Then another. Followed by a last shot. Dr. Brenner falls down to the ground. He was shot twice in the head and once in the heart. I look over to the culprit. It was Richard.
"Go. Run. Before I kill you both too," Richard says.
"Thank you," I say.
"Yeah, yeah. Just go," Richard says.
I get Jesse in the car and start to drive to the forest. Jesse grabs my hand. I squeeze it tightly.
"Do you hate me?" Jesse asks.
"No. Not at all. Yeah, it caught me off guard. But I love you. Very much," I say.
"I love you too," Jesse says.
"Why did Richard save us though?" I ask.
"He was my best friend in the lab. He knew what Brenner did to me," Jesse says.
"Then why did he bully you?" I ask.
"Hatred. I guess," Jesse says.
"Makes sense," I say.
"Are the kids okay?" Jesse asks.
"Yes. Lily is scared but she is okay. They are with Joyce," I say.
"Thank god," Jesse says.
We get to the forest. I kiss Jesse softly. They kiss me softly back. We find the kids. Lily runs up to Jesse. Jesse picks her up.
"Dr. Brenner is dead. Richard killed him and let us go," I say.
"Really?" Dustin asks.
Jesse explains everything.
"I remember that now," Jane says.
"Do you guys hate me now?" Jesse asks.
"No. Of course not," Steve says.
"It is nice to know the truth though," Jane says.
"Yeah. I apologize for not saying anything sooner. I am ashamed of it," Jesse says.
"No," Jane says.
"We get it completely, hun," I say.
"Thank you, guys," Jesse says.
"You are welcome," Steve says.
"Wait. What is Richard's powers?" I say.
"He can kill someone with just one look. Or at least he used to. I think he forgot how to train and strengthen his powers. He must have lost them. Or he would have not used a gun tonight. He would have used his powers instead," Jesse replies.
"Oh, okay," I say.
