"I don't want you guys to get too exited." Andy started as she walked up to Marleigh, Maya and Vic. "But jack and i just approved some seriously badass new gadgets."

"Can you believe that, in a couple of days, the captains race will be over? And then it'll be you approving all the new gadgets." Maya said.

"Maybe not." Marleigh said, sorting the hoses out.

The three women twisted around, sending her looks. Maya's ans Vic's brows were furrowed and Andy head was tilted to the side, looking as if she knew something.

"Marleigh, what is wrong with you?" Maya asked.

"Just being realistic." Marleigh murmured.

"We'll see. I mean, nothings for sure. We don't know who's gonna be named captain. The incinerator really counts against me." Andy said.

"Your track record counted too. And your stats, the stations stats." Vic said.

"Well, not to mention Jack and i still have to go before the board and Ripley for our sit-downs." Andy reminded them.

Vic groaned "Ripley."

"Did i tell you what he said to me during peer reviews?" Maya asked. "That i should go out for lieutenant because he thought i would make a good captain, too, someday? As if he should be focused on that."

"Yeah, well, he was mainly just focused on kicking me out of the room, So maybe don't remind him that you know me when you go for your sit-down." Vic suggested.

"Yeah, you totally don't know me when you're around him cause i said some things..." Marleigh trailed off with a sigh.

"Yeah, it'll probably be better for you." Vic said.

"Maya, you should go out for lieutenant...whether i win or not." Andy said.

"First things first. Let's make you a captain." Maya said.

"Come on." Vic said, walking down the catwalk with Maya behind her.

Andy and Marleigh stared at each other for a moment, not saying anything. Marleigh couldn't really tell if Andy knew that Ripley wasn't picking her or Jack and she didn't know if she should tell her now or just leave it.

If she told Andy that she had no chance at becoming captain then Andy would definitely be pissed and would argue with Ripley when it was her turn for the sit-downs and that could be way worse than her not finding out until Ripley tells everyone.

Marleigh placed the hose down and walked closer to Andy, standing right in front of her.

"You'll do great, no matter the outcome. I know you will."

"Yeah, hopefully." Andy smiled slightly.

"There's no hopefully about it, Andy. You're amazing at your job, probably the best here. Just be yourself and do what you do best." Marleigh said.

"Thanks, Mars."

"I, uh, do have a question though...You're not—if you don't get captain, you're not gonna leave are you?" Marleigh asked.

Andy sighed and took a step closer, placing her hands on Marleigh's shoulder. "I'm not leaving, don't worry about that. Captain or not, i'm still gonna be here to boss you around."
