And I'll never break away
'Cause when I'm alone
I'm lost in these memories
Living behind my own illusion
Lost all my dignity
Living inside my own confusion
"Wake up! Eclipse, are you ok?"
Everything slowly came into view, Hope, his four children floating above him, the workshop. They all looked at Eclipse worried about his well-being, so he asked "What's going on?"
"You... don't remember? You fainted when you saw the symbol."
"Oh. I'm sorry, I'm ok guys."
"I hope you're not just saying that to make us feel better..." Eclipse laughed, "You said hope."
"Yeah... What's wrong with– Oh. I see."
Eclipse laughed harder, this time his children and Hope joined in on his sense of humor. Hope forced her laughter to stop and interrupted, "But seriously though are you ok?"
Eclipse sat up replying "Yeah I'm fine, except..." he paused. "I think I saw a memory. It was moments before I entered the shuttle."
Hope leaned in wanting to hear more. "I was carrying something but I'm still not sure what. Two people stopped me and tried to attack me and I was defending myself. I heard yelling. And all my children were unconscious, beaten. I seem to have given up on what I was carrying and instead carried my children into the shuttle and flew away. And that's it."
"Nothing else?" Hope asked.
Eclipse sadly shook his head.
"It's ok, at least you have something rather than nothing right?"
"Totally." He flashed Hope and his children a bright smile, his expression alone was enough to let her know that he was ok for the time being.
At least for now, it wouldn't be long before Eclipse would grow impatient of regaining his memories.
With only one memory Eclipse had, he kept playing it over and over in his head expecting something new to return. But nothing came to him. Everything from the voices, shapes, and the shuttle he flew in didn't make sense if anything it felt more like a lucid dream than a memory. Would meeting the people from his memories wipe the smoke covering their bodies? Or a flight or fight response? Maybe a rematch will trigger something to return.
He was so distracted and lost in his mind about his memories that Hope decided to give him another distraction; find and scavenge any lost pieces of the shuttle. And it worked well, Eclipse and his children wandered the forest looking for the location where the shuttle crashed in. The problem was, they didn't remember which direction it was so they spent the next 5 days searching for it. Luckily his children found it before him and lead him to the crashed automobile that was still sticking out.
Eclipse continued to scavenge as many parts as he could until there was no more he could reach. Bringing them home so Hope would try and reuse them for the new shuttle, it only took two weeks and a half of obtaining all the parts they needed. Hope started to build the layout on a blueprint, showing Eclipse the process and steps required. He didn't understand all of it, but he got a good idea of how it worked.
Putting together the inner parts of the shuttle was easier said than done, she remembered Eclipse's arms getting tangled in the wires too many times. The first couple of times it happened she almost died laughing because every movement Eclipse made, got him stuck more. But after a while, it became annoying to the point where Hope had to kick him out of wiring and only allowed herself to do it.
