Wherever I go there's a shadow of you
I know I could try looking for something new
But wherever I go, I'll be looking for you
Seeing the front door wide open, sent shivers down his spine. Shadow knew this was a trap, but if he wanted to capture Eclipse without more casualties, he would have to play by his rules for now.
Cautiously entering the home, he looks around the place, all the lights are turned off with no light source except the windows. There was no sign of movement either, he supposed it was probably a good thing since Eclipse wasn't going to attempt to sneak attack him. He slowly makes his way to the kitchen, all of the lights are turned off except for the ceiling light hanging above the dinner table, creating an ominous environment.
He looked around the room, Eclipse was nowhere in sight, if he dared to ask for his time then he better show up as well.
He walks to a chair but before he can take a seat he hears a noise behind him, he turns around and there he is. Standing in front of him with that sly grin, "Glad you could make it."
"Eclipse, I didn't come to chat."
"That's good because I'll be doing most of the talking." Eclipse sat at the chair placed on the end of the table, looking up at Shadow who had yet to follow. "Sit down, you're making me anxious.
Besides, I invited you for dinner no need to be so tense."
Shadow slowly walked to the only other chair available, placed across the table from Eclipse. He didn't bother to adjust it knowing he wasn't planning to be there long.
In between them was a large plate and a pot lid placed over it, he wasn't even trying to be fancy. His reflection stared back at him, giving him the same amount of brood he gave to anyone.
"Shadow, how's that wound on your back?" Eclipse asked, his eyes giving a frightening glow.
As if on cue, the pain on Shadow's back began to throb and ache more than it did before. His body only focused on the pain and nothing else, he grabbed a fork and pointed the sharp ends on his fingertip. Attempting to distract his body from one wound to another didn't seem to work so he put it down next to the fork.
"It's nothing I haven't dealt with before."
Eclipse picked up a knife and began to chip at the table, "Remember our battle on that floating island? That was the last time we saw each other before I was forced to run away. Crashing into a swamp, losing all memory of who I was, but the Human girl lent me her home, her kindness, her vulnerable side. It's sickening. I stayed with her for months not knowing who I was and still accepting her kindness like a weak creature. She showed me many things that I don't understand, things I can't see the same way as her. I do not see the point for Humans to expose each other to see into their weaknesses. I don't see the point in it.
"Which is why I don't understand, What do you see in these Humans that I don't?"
Shadow's fists clenched and his fur rose when he mentioned having stayed with Hope for months, he was a fool for not noticing earlier. Months. For several months, he was hiding away at her home all this time, so close yet so far. The fact Hope was willing to let Eclipse and his monsters stay at her home was even more frightening, assuming what he was saying was the truth.
"There's no way she let you into her house, you had to threaten her to stay and keep silent about your presence."
"You'd be surprised by how foolish Humans are, that's why I want you to answer my question." He shifted his attention from the table to Shadow, pausing his carving activity. "What do you see in Humans that's worth protecting that I see as worth destroying?"
