June 19th 2008

Scarlett's POV

I am sitting in the Inverness train station waiting for Jan's train. I am due on the 22nd. But you never know with babies. "Look sweetie, it's Mummy's train." I say as her train begins to pull into the station. I know I only get her for a week and I hope that Riley is born while she's here. I'm wearing one of Jan's sweatshirts because after the release of The Other Bolyen Girl I have become more noticed in public so I have the hood up and I know Jan won't have a problem finding me since It's her clothes and her daughter in my lap. The public has no idea what Claire looks like and I want to keep it that way as long as possible. "Mummy!" Claire squeals the second her eyes land on Jan and Jan has a huge grin as her head snaps over to our direction. She comes running to us since I am nine months pregnant and do not want to run. I stand as she approaches us and she looks around. "Did ye drive here on yer own?" She asks. "No Gran saw an old friend and is over there talking with them. I am not driving like this?" I say pointing to the baby bump. "I think ye look amazing." She says. "Nice hoodie." She says. "It smells like you plus I didn't want to get recognized." I say. "Ye mean by them?" She asks. "Pointing tae a group of camera men. "Shit." I say. "Janny!" Gran says and engulfs Jan in a hug. "Gran can ye take Claire there are paps." Jan says and hands her Claire. "Of course I'll meet ye at the truck." She says. "Ye been driving my truck again?" Jan asks with a lopsided grin. "Again it smells like you." I defend. "Come on, let's get home." I say. "Aye and if any of them get close tae ye I will hit them." She says.

Janet's POV

"Where is your bag?" Scarlett asks. "Ye think I'm going tae wear fatigues on leave no. I want my comfy clothes." I say as I pick her up bridal style making her squeal. "That's fair." She says resting her head on my neck. "SCARLETT OVER HERE!! IS THIS YOUR WIFE?! GIVE HER A KISS!!" They yell. "They don't sound scottish." She says. "No they deh huh?" I say. "RACH FUCK THU FHEIN!!" She yells. "Look how confused they look." I laugh as we finally get away from them. "I love that ye screamed go fuck yerself in Scots Gaelic at them." I say as we get to the truck. When we reach the truck I see that Gran has already strapped Claire into her carseat and is holding out my keys for me tae take. I opened the passenger's side door still with Scarlett in my arms and set her in the car. "Thank you baby." She says before grabbing my collar and giving me a kiss. I close the door and walk around tae the drivers side and grab the keys from Gran and thank her and I open the back door for her tae get in. "Ahh I've missed this." I sigh in content. "Mummy!" Claire shouts again. "That's me." I say reaching back taking her little hand it's not that much of a reach since her seat is right behind Scarlett's. I held Claire's hand the whole ride home since when I tried tae take it back she screamed bloody murder. "Home." I say as I pull into the drive. We walk into the house Claire is attached tae me on one side and Scarlett on the other. I see a big banner that says welcome home and it makes me smile. "I need tae shower. Claire can ye stay with Mommy for a wee bit. I will be right back, I promise." I say as I hand her tae Scarlett causing her tae start crying. "I'll be right back I promise." I say kissing her on the head and running upstairs and taking the fastest shower I think I have ever taken and getting into some clean clothes before running back downstairs and I sit next tae Scarlett on the couch and Claire clings tae me. "I told ye I'd be right back." I soothe her. "I guess she missed you more than I thought." Scarlett says. "I missed her tae and ye." I tell her. "I thought yer mum was here." I say. "Oh she's at the store." Scarlett says, leaning into my side as I wrap my free hand around her shoulders. "Shall we watch our show? I've got the disc in the dvd player and it's hooked up to the tv." Scarlett says. "I'd love that." I say and she turns on the tv then the dvd player and plays I Love Lucy. After a few episodes Mama Mel walks in. "Good it worked." She says with a smile when she sees me. "Ye mean threatening my CO?" I ask. "Yes. He should fear me." She says with a fake evil laugh. "Oh he does now." I laugh lightly since Claire and Scarlett fell asleep. "Good to have you home Janet even if it's just for a week." She says. "It's good tae be home." I say with a smile looking down at my girls.

June 20th 2008

Scarlett's POV

"HOLY SHIT JANET WAKE UP!!" I shout at my sleeping wife. "What?" She groans. "My water broke." I say. "Oh shit!" She says and jumps out of bed and puts on some pants. "I'll tell yer mum and then I'll drive ye tae the hospital." She says running out of the room. "Well why are you standing here? Take her to the hospital!" I hear Mom yell and Jan comes running in and jams her feet into her boots not bothering to tie them and picks me up grabs my go bag with another hand how the fuck she can do this I don't know. "Ye ready mo Ghradh?" She asks as she drives to the hospital. "I don't really have a choice, Baby. Riley is coming." I say. "Right stupid question." She says. I call the hospital letting them know we are on our way. When we got there some nurses and my doctor were waiting with a gurney for me. "Let's have a bairn." Jan says, helping me onto the gurney.
