The three munch on the hot dogs Cherry bought them and drink the water Sean got from the sink in the bathroom. Then the teens watch for a few seconds as Daniel snacks happily on his Chock-o-Crisp, barely giving Sean a quick thank you before biting into it.
"Where you guys off to now?" The teens turn, spotting Brody walking to his car. They give each other a quick glance.
"Uh...south, I guess," Sean says.
"Right on. Pro tip: don't feed the bears!" Cherry laughs under her breath while Sean smiles. "See ya later!" The two give a quick wave before he gets into his car.
"Hey, did you get a map?" she asks, giving Sean a quick look before she spots smeared chocolate on Daniel's face. Sean pulls out the map he got while Cherry leans across the table to wipe the chocolate away. "Half of it went on your face, Dani-boy."
"It was delicious either way!" the boy grins. All she can do is roll her eyes, sitting back down as Sean places the map on the table. "That's a big map. What's it say?"
"Trying to figure that out," Sean mumbles. Daniel also moves to the other side of the table to look, forcing Sean closer to Cherry.
"Is this supposed to be Washington? I don't recognize anything."
"Me neither," he says, Cherry humming in agreement. "But we have to somewhere in there."
"Well, we're at one of the gas stations, that's for sure. Before, we were at the trail that was by a river," she states aloud, Sean now humming in agreement. "I think we're about here, maybe?" She leans forward, pointing near the bottom left of the map. "It's near the river," she shrugs.
"Can we go there tonight, then?" Daniel points all the way across the map, gaining a laugh from the two teens.
"Are you kidding? That's way too far, enano. You want to walk a whole week again?"
"But it looks cool," the boy whines.
"Fine," Sean sighs, "let me find some-"
"Hey, kids." Cherry jumps at the voice, all three turning to look over their shoulders. They spot an elderly man who walks up extremely close behind them. "Looks like you're out camping."
"Oh...yeah. Just checking out trails and stuff." Sean looks to Cherry, the girl giving the smallest shrug before both turn their attention back to the man.
"Seems dangerous to be out here all alone." Cherry opens her mouth only for the man to say, "But maybe you're the ones who need to be watched." Her brows scrunch immediately, as does Sean's, while Daniel looks at the man confused.
"Huh?"
"I'm sorry, sir, what? We're just sitting here."
"Don't give me no sass, girl." Cherry's whole face scrunches up in disgust. "Sure hope you paid for all that. We don't tolerate shoplifters."
"Sir, we paid for all this," she states.
"And the map was free," Sean adds.
"Well, let's go inside, and you can show us what you bought." Cherry clicks her tongue, getting up from the table.
"We are not doing that, sir. We are leaving since we have friends waiting for us." She waves the boys up. "We're leaving." The two get up but don't move far since the man blocks their path.
"I don't think so." He stops Cherry from moving further, pushing her against the table, his hand on her chest. He pushes Sean as well but takes his hands off him. She can feel her breathing fasten. "Don't make this worse for yourself, little girl. Or I will." Her heartbeat raises.
