3 - The Team

"You'll be living in the room you woke up in.", Katherine starts explaining.

I'm now sitting down in one of the chairs in front of her desk.   

"Make yourself at home, you'll be staying until we figure this out. Someone will bring your stuff and-"

"Wait, I can't go out?", I interrupt her.

"You can go out if you're with my guys but you will be living here. Orders from above.", She gives me a small smile, "But you know, we have both suspects, this shouldn't take long, maybe a couple days to see if there is someone else involved..."

"Alright so... Where do we start?", I ask, getting up from my chair.

She raises an eyebrow. "We?"

"Oh, I'm helping." I say simply. I am not just going to wait and do nothing.

"Cam-"

"Kate, please.", I sound desperate and she probably can hear it too, "They killed Louis. Plus we both know I can help."

She paused for a bit, looking at me, and then she let out a sigh.

"Fine, just don't cause too much trouble."

I let out a victorious smile as she got up too. 

"I'll introduce you to the team and you can start after you get some real clothes."

I look down, remembering what I'm wearing. It doesn't bother me, though. I don't want to waste time so I open my mouth to protest but she speaks before I can.

"Before you say something, they asked for lawyers so you won't miss anything. They're still on their way so you have time."

We both walked out of the office. I had a small smile on my face after realizing how well my friend knew me.

Immediately we get some stares, Kate's presence makes them stiff, she's clearly the boss here.

I follow her as she turns right, walking to one of the corners of the bullpen where some desks were placed. I recognize Robert sitting behind one and he gives me a gentle smile.

There are four desks here, if you look around. Groups of four desks are common so I assume they work in teams.

In front of me there are the four people I met yesterday, also the four people who saved my life today.

The big guy, Leonard, raises his head from his computer and gives Katherine a smile I can't quite figure out, but he looks nice.

"Alright, guys, this is Cameron Reed she'll be assisting the investigation.", Robert and one of the women, Jane I think, seem surprised but the other two just nod.

They introduced themselves once again since they could tell I wasn't very sure.

I can now say that Camila is next to Leonard and in front of Jane who is next to Robert.

Jane gives me a curious look so I mouth "What" to her. The answer I got was a giggle after Katherine hit me softly on the stomach with the back of her hand.

How did she even see that?

"Nice to meet you, call me Leo, welcome to the team.", The big guy gets up to extend his hand and I shake it. The strongest hand shake I've ever shared with someone, by the way.

"You too, Leo.", He gives me a smile and sits back down.

"Ma'am isn't it a bad idea to include a civilian in the investigation? Especially when it's the civilian in risk of being killed?", The surprised girl, Camila, asked, not even sparing me a glance.
