Thirty long minutes later, we're back at the FBI building. I'm rushed inside and we quickly get to our floor, where Kate, Jane and Robbie are waiting.
I still haven't said anything since we left that place but honestly I don't have anything to say.
I've been thinking a lot instead. How did they knew I was coming?
Only Conan, my aunt, Joane and Louis knew. This means the house is either under surveillance or one of the closest people I have wants to kill me. Maybe even more than one?
I'm getting paranoid already.
"I can literally see the smoke coming out of your head", Kate approaches me with a soft smile, "Overthinking won't get you anything now. Let's work the case and make conclusions after."
I really appreciate her. Still, it's not that easy.
"Let's get something to eat.", She tells the whole team, "This whole thing got me starving"
A few minutes later we're all down in the cafeteria. Not the quality I usually go for but I won't be picky here. I grabbed a salad and a water bottle and we all started eating once we were all seated.
"From now on you won't leave this building.", Kate started, "Even when you're here you need to be close to someone all the time."
"Damn boss, what a gentle way to take away someone's freedom.", Jane commented making me smile.
"I already saw that coming so it's fine.", I looked at Kate who observed me with attention. Even if she looked cold on the outside, she was the sweetest inside., "But how will I be close to someone outside of work hours?"
"I will make some agents take turns on keeping eyes on you", Kate's words made me frown
"I don't need babysitters.", I answered.
In reality, the thought of more strangers around me was awful. I trusted Kate with my life and therefore trusted her team but the whole FBI is another thing. I can't even trust my family, how can I trust them?
I can just imagine the sleepless nights I'll have, too paranoid to sleep with them next door.
"Didn't you give alcohool do a kid today?", She argued and I rolled my eyes
"So? It's not like you didn't drink as a teenager. Let the kid be happy.", I shrugged
"That's not the point.", She sighed, "You need someone with you for your safety."
"No.", I crossed my arms.
"Cam, don-"
"No."
She sighed, "Fine, I'll be the one staying with you.", I smiled before thinking about Matty
"No, you can't, there's Matty."
"I'll stay.", We all turned to Camila in surprise, "You already work too much.", Leo nodded in agreement, "If you stay with her you might kill her before the bad guys get to it.", He nodded once again.
"What is that suposed to mean?!"
"Nothing, really..." Camila answered unamused.
This bit-
"It's fun to see someone get on Cameron's nerves for once and not the other way around." Kate laughed. "I'll allow it but if you feel like it's too much tell me anytime."
"Why are you treating sleeping in the room next to me as if she's going to war?"
"I will, thank you boss." Camila smiled to Kate, both completly ignoring me.
