good guys don't always get the glory;
Jungkook fiddled with his bracelet, as he tried to focus on the teacher's lesson. It's been two weeks since he started at Emerald Junior Academy and ever since, he has been trying his best to blend in with the background.
It wasn't much different from his last school, except for not living at home and having lights-out curfew. Everything else though is the same. Teachers on every corner directing them to class, the bullies still there, the uniforms sucked, and no one really talked to him.
Jungkook missed Cora. He hadn't talked to her since the night he was dragged away from her room. It makes his heart hurt knowing she's probably worried, wondering what happened to him, and why he's not around anymore. He wished he had her phone number so he could call her.
Sighing, he continues his doodling on the corner of his paper. Sure, he should be taking notes, but he just didn't care. He just wanted to go back to his room and sleep. Doodling soon turns into sketching and it's not long before the whole page is covered in designs.
"Those are so good."
Jungkook jerks, his eyes flying up and meeting the eyes of a redheaded boy. It's only then he realizes that the rest of the class is out of their seats and packing their things.
How long was I zoned out for? And how did I miss the bell?
"Thanks," Jungkook mutters, shutting his notebook and standing from his chair before grabbing his bookbag from the floor.
"I'm Hoseok," the boy says. "I've been wanting to talk to you for a few days, but you always run off so fast when the bell rings."
Jungkook puts his things away before sliding on his bag and introducing himself. "I'm Jungkook."
"Nice to meet you." Hoseok sticks out his hand and Jungkook tentatively gives it a shake. "So, I'm on my way to lunch. Want to sit with me?"
He wants to sit with me?
"Yes." Jungkook's answer comes out fast and he later feels his cheeks heat up with excitement. After hiding out in his room and bathroom for the last several days, he definitely won't turn down the chance at making a friend.
"Cool. Let's go. Joseph is probably waiting on us." Hoseok heads out and Jungkook quickly follows.
"Joseph?"
Hoseok glances at Jungkook over his shoulder, a toothy grin across his face. "My best friend."
Jungkook's stomach heaves at that and his grip on his bookbag straps tightens, trying to push the nerves aside. It's okay, it's his friend, and you need some friends.
