[ 010 ] THEIR MESSED UP MINDS ❝Says the one who kissed his teammate.❞
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SANYU ARRIVED AT THE arena too late.
The stands were empty, the match long over. Guilt washed over her as she stood there with a regretful heart. She had missed it──missed supporting Korra, missed being there for her. Worse, she had left her behind. As she scanned the empty grounds, her eyes landed on Bolin just outside the arena. He was holding a bouquet of flowers, looking out of place and a little lost, with Pabu perched comfortably on his shoulder.
"Offi──I mean, Sanyu!" Bolin called out, his grin wide and full of admiration. "I didn't think you'd make it, even though the match is over. Korra said you were busy."
"Yeah, I wasn't at first," Sanyu replied with a wry smile, trying to mask the guilt she felt. "But then I was. I came with Korra to see your first match, but duty called. The Equalists are still out there, and it's dangerous for citizens, especially benders. I had to leave before it even started."
Bolin nodded. "Oh, right, right. You're a police officer, always busy," he said understandingly. He then motioned toward the dock. "Korra's up there if you want to see her... with, uh... Mako," he added, his words trailing off, as though he was bracing for some kind of reaction.
Sanyu narrowed her eyes and glanced in the direction Bolin had indicated. There, across the distance, she saw Korra and Mako on the dock, their voices raised, hands gesturing angrily at each other. And Sanyu could sense the tension between them even from afar.
But then, in the midst of the argument, something unexpected happened. Korra suddenly grabbed Mako by the collar and kissed him, right there in the open.
Sanyu's breath caught in her throat as a jolt of shock ran through her. It felt like she had been punched in the chest. Her heart twisted in ways she didn't fully understand, and her mind swirled with disbelief.
"What the actual fuck?" Sanyu whispered under her breath, her eyes glued to the scene in front of her.
Korra's eyes snapped toward them, her face instantly paling with guilt as she pulled away from Mako. She had been caught, her lips on someone else's when they shouldn't have been.
