Riba's Pov:

I saw Mario's eyes light up as we saw a building in the distance followed by an array of many other buildings. It felt nice to get out of the forest, where all the damp air was. He and I started to speed walk slightly as we got even closer, and then, we were close enough to hear the commotion of life going on in the town.

"Wow..." Mario said, awestruck.

It didn't take much time for someone to notice us and come over. "Hello there!  I haven't seen you two around here. Are you new around these parts?"

"Yeah, actually, we were traveling around looking for a town to settle into." I said.

"Well then, your in luck, im actually one of the owners of the town, and we always believe in giving people free housing- because well, everyone deserves a home!" They said cheerfully "Why, we actually have a house open right now from some people moving away- its actually right over there!" They pointed to a medium sized, two story house.

"Wowie-!" Mario said again.

"Heh, yep, its all yours." They handed me the keys before walking over to some of the other town people, chatting with them as if they were old friends.

"That was shockingly easy." I blinked. "Welp, we might as well check out our free house-" hah. 'free house' that sounded weird to say.

Mario walked over to the house, and I followed, using the keys to unlock the door, and with slight excitement, opened it. Wow! this house was beautiful! And it was fully furnished? Must have been since the people who used to live here couldn't bring all their stuff. The living room was just to the right of the door, and there was a kitchen to the left, along with a dinner table, there were also stairs that I guessed led to the bathroom and bedroom.

"This is amazing!" He said, clearly as shocked and excited as i was. He immediately went upstairs, which i quickly followed him, as i guessed, upstairs was a bathroom to the left, and a master bedroom to the right. Mario rushed into the bedroom and gasped. I followed quickly, widening my eyes to see an absolutely massive mattress, with fresh looking sheets and blankets on it. He was grinning widely, ecstatic.

"Well, now, dont get too excited- we dont exactly have money for food and im assuming the fridge is empty, at the least- one of us will probably need a job and-" I stoped talking as Mario opened the nightstands drawer to find a credit card and a note..

"Wh.." He was lost for words... then he read the note "it says: Your welcome, go wild. - Mystery girl."

"Well, whoever this mystery girl is they seem to be rich as hell to leave their credit card in our possession!

"Pft- Yeah!" Mario said, smiling.

Everything seemed perfect, we could get food, we didn't have to work, we could practically chill all day long! Yet. And eerie sense crept over me, as if this was too good to be true... Meh. it's probably just paranoia. How could anything go wrong?

(513 words wooooh!!)

(Spoiler alert, something goes wrong.)
