Camila's POV
Standing in the lobby of this five-star hotel, I felt a bit anxious waiting for Dinah. I looked at the entrance every time someone came in, hoping it was her. We agreed to meet at the lobby before we entered the venue where the event Dinah suggested I come with her would take place. I hesitated to join her at first, but she convinced me that I would benefit from this event. I finally agreed because Dinah could be right. If she was not, she surely meant good. I also wanted to appreciate her effort in getting the tickets for this event, which were exclusive and limited. She was my best friend. We supported each other in every possible way.
I smiled when Dinah showed up. She was dressed in a beautiful orange dress. I stood up and straightened my blue dress before walking towards her. We greeted each other with a warm hug.
"This dress looks good on you." I complimented her orange dress, which I never saw her wearing before.
"Thanks, Mila!" She looked at me, "I'm glad you go with baby blue."
"Black dress is good!" I said my favorite color of dress. I loved wearing black in general, especially black dress for a party.
"Yes, but not tonight, Mila!" Dinah reminded me not to wear a black dress tonight because I needed to be visible for this event.
I argued with her that someone was still visible, even in black clothes. She did not deny that, but she thought I needed to wear a bit lighter color for tonight's event. It was a networking event where professionals, business people, and entrepreneurs gathered to build connections. Dinah said it was the opportunity where we should put ourselves out there to make connections and advance our networking. I agreed with her about putting ourselves out there and making connections, but not really about the dress thing. However, I agreed not to wear my favorite color. I went with blue. It was not the kind of color that would draw instant attention, according to Dinah, but she could accept it as long as I did not wear something too dark.
I understood what Dinah meant, but I was not sure still if this event was for me. It was for her since she was a professional. She was a rising star in her company as part of the business development team. She did well within two years of joining the company. She needed to advance her connections, besides she enjoyed such an event, partying, meeting people, and building connections. Meanwhile, it was not really for me. I hardly could make friends in my school years. I could make friends with Dinah because she found me, surely not the other way around. I was not only a reserved kind of person but also unemployed and had no business to run. This made me ineligible for this event, in my opinion.
