"Good night, Kolya."
The next morning, the sun shined through the window, perfectly illuminating the pair's faces. Fyodor woke up the next morning to find Nikolai's head still resting against him, the warmth of his body a cozy feeling that was still present. He let out a small yawn as he glanced over at the boy, his eyes looking a bit sleepy still. Nikolai was still asleep at the moment, his breathing slow and steady. Fyodor remained still as he stared at the boy for a moment, feeling a bit of affection and tenderness towards him. He couldn't help but feel a bit of amusement at finding himself laying in bed with another boy, but... it felt nice. The warmth of Nikolai's body against his own gave him a feeling of comfort like no other, and he let out a small smile at the thought. Fyodor felt like he could just stay like this forever – just laying here beside the boy with no worries in the world. But... in the back of his mind, he couldn't help but feel slightly guilty for having let his guard down so easily. He was only letting this happen because the boy had nowhere else to go – it was just his kind and compassionate nature to allow him to stay. Nothing more, nothing less.Despite his rationalizations, Fyodor couldn't help but feel a hint of affection for the boy sleeping beside him. His guard might not have been completely down, but being able to lay here and not have to be on alert for a moment... Well, it was nice. His gaze fell back onto the boy, a small smile growing on his lips with the urge to just... let himself enjoy this for a bit. Fyodor let out a quiet sigh as he looked back at the boy, his gaze lingering on the expression that was spread on his face. He looked so pure and innocent as he slept, a slight smile on his lips despite his current unconsciousness. Fyodor felt his own smile soften at the sight of it, as though this moment was something truly precious. He reached out, gently running a finger down the boy's cheek, the tender gesture not unlike something a lover would usually do for their spouse when they were asleep. Nikolai let out a small mumble in his sleep as Fyodor ran a finger down his cheek. The gesture caught him off guard, and he shifted slightly as his eyes flickered open slightly. "Mmmmm?" he muttered groggily, his tone still somewhat sleepy as he opened his eyes.
Fyodor let out a quiet laugh as he noticed the sudden shift in Nikolai's expression. He was no longer in a completely dreamlike state, but he could still detect some sort of half-sleepiness within his eyes. "Good morning," Fyodor said softly, his tone containing a hint of amusement at the boy's reaction to his gesture. Nikolai yawned as he opened his eyes fully, taking a brief moment to register his surroundings and process the fact that he was actually awake. "Um... good morning," he said with a small smile, his tone still sounding a bit sleepy. He felt a hint of discomfort at having just woke up to the touch of another person on him. It wasn't bad... it just caught him off guard. "What time is it?" he asked quietly. Nikolai nodded in response, seeming a bit relieved that it wasn't past noon yet. The boy let out another yawn before slowly rolling over into a sitting position, his tone still sounding slightly sleepy as he looked back at Fyodor. "Did you sleep well?" he asked softly. Fyodor let out a quiet laugh at the boy's question. "Yes... I slept well," he said softly, letting his gaze linger on the boy as he sat up and stretched his body out. "I'm guessing you slept well, too?" Nikolai hummed in response, rolling his shoulders as he watched the boy stretch. His tone remained soft as he spoke. Nikolai nodded in response, his tone once again sounding a bit sleepy as he rubbed his eyes. "Yeah, I slept well..." he said with a small yawn. It was clear that he was still feeling a bit groggy from the sleep he had last night, but he seemed comfortable enough in his current state.
"That's good," Fyodor said softly, glancing over at the boy as he leaned over and turned off his bedside lamp. "Are you hungry? I can cook us something real quick if you'd like." "Um..." Nikolai thought on the question, his head shifting from side to side as he mulled it over. "Yeah, I'm a little hungry, I guess," he admitted with a small shrug, his voice still sounding somewhat sleepy. "I wouldn't mind some breakfast." Fyodor nodded in response, a small smile spreading on his face as he got out of bed and stretched out a bit more. "Alright, I'll make sure to whip us something up. Just... give me a few minutes, okay?" Nikolai let out a small smile as Fyodor got out of the bed, his head following him with his eyes. "Okay," he said softly, his voice slightly groggy. He shifted back down on the bed as he watched Fyodor leave the room, turning to lay back down in the warm spot he'd just left. After Fyodor left the room, Nikolai laid back down in bed, a soft smile on his lips as his gaze fixed on the empty spot that Fyodor had just left. He took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of the boy that was left in the bed, a hint of comfort and warmth spreading through his entire body. He closed his eyes, laying there for a moment as he let himself relax in the empty space beside him.
