Warning: fedya being hopelessly in love with Kolya

"You're welcome... and... once again, you can stay here for now, but don't think that this means anything more..."

Nikolai walked up to the second floor of the house, passing by one of the windows in the attic before heading to the room across the hall from Fyodor's room. He let out a soft sigh once more as he reached his temporary room, his eyes wandering across it in a bid to take in the space. Despite being a bit small, the room was... nice. A bed with simple sheets, a wardrobe, and a small table sat in the room. Not much else. The boy sighed silently, feeling a bit unsure about all of this. He closed the door behind him, letting silence fill the room as he was left alone... he finally had a place to stay, but it still felt strange... and he was also feeling a bit anxious about... well... everything. He sat down on the bed, sighing once more. "I wonder when Fyodor will be getting back from the store, it's been about an hour now.." The boy thought to himself, twirling his own long white braid between his fingers. Nikolai let out a small chuckle, his thoughts then drifting towards Fyodor. "I'm sure he's just taken a bit more time trying to get everything he had to get at the store..." he said softly, his tone filled with some optimism as he tried to calm his nerves.

The boy kept his gaze on the small white braid he held, still twisting and turning it as he continued waiting. He was feeling a bit better now... he had a temporary room, and Fyodor would be back soon... so there was no need to worry, right? Nikolai let out a small sigh as the seconds crawled on. He could hear the clock tick loudly every time, each tick becoming a reminder of how long he had been waiting. "Fyodor should be back any second now..." he said quietly to himself, his eyes watching the door. Despite his attempt to stay positive and optimistic about Fyodor's return, the boy couldn't help but start to feel anxious yet again. What if something had happened to him? What if he had gotten lost? Or hurt? He couldn't help but let out a small sigh. The boy just sat there, continuing to stare at the door in the hopes of it opening soon. He tried to stay positive, but... there was a distinct voice in the back of his head that kept pointing out the worst possibilities... and it was starting to make him panic. Then, the sound of footsteps filled the void of silence. Was Fyodor back?

Nikolai's eyes snapped towards the sound with a breathless gasp, his heart beginning to speed up. Was it really Fyodor? Or was it something else? The boy didn't know, but his nerves were growing more and more anxious with each passing second. The sounds continued, growing louder and louder as the silence continued. Nikolai was almost certain that that was Fyodor, but he wanted to be completely sure... so he waited just a bit longer, his heart beating rapidly in his chest now. The footsteps stopped, and a few seconds later... there was a knock on the door.Nikolai froze, his jaw going slack as he heard the sound. He couldn't really believe it... the door was finally opening. Nikolai's eyes had snapped to the door once again, his hands tightening on his braid as he waited for the next sound... and a few seconds later... the door swung open. Nikolai could practically feel his heart stop, every ounce of blood rushing up to his face as he realized that Fyodor had returned. He stared with wide eyes at the boy who had just opened the door, his breath catching in his chest as all of the anxiety that had been building up inside him came rushing his way. Fyodor was back, but now... his thoughts were filled with a hundred possible things... many of which weren't exactly very realistic. Nikolai let out a soft sigh before finally managing to get back to his senses. "Fyodor..." he replied, his voice trembling slightly now from everything he felt.

Fyodor seemed a bit surprised by Nikolai's reaction, and for a good reason too. The boy's face had practically gone red as the air grew thick with the sudden tension between them. Fyodor had his hands behind his back, his eyes focused on Nikolai as he studied the latter's expression. Nikolai continued staring at Fyodor, his throat feeling completely dry now. He couldn't find any words, and even his mind seemed blank at the moment. The boy was now unable to think of anything beyond the current situation. "You act like you've seen a ghost, Kolya," Fyodor began, walking closer to the boy. "I wasn't gone for that long." Nikolai let out a soft sigh, his nerves slowly calming down a bit as Fyodor got closer to him. "N-no, I was just... surprised," he replied simply, his hands still gripped tightly on his braid. Fyodor gave the boy a small shrug, his face remaining calm as he walked up until he was pretty close to Nikolai now. "Was my absence truly that notable?" he asked softly, his eyebrows raising as if he found it amusing that Nikolai had missed him so much. Nikolai's heart began to speed up once again as Fyodor got closer to him, his cheeks starting to turn even redder in the process. "Sort of." he replied, letting his eyes roam over Fyodor. Fyodor noticed this, and seemed to take a bit of amusement from it. "Mm... I can tell that you missed me while I was gone, just by how red your face is," he teased, his hand finally leaving behind his back.
